Last weekend we shared Ruth and Ross' effortless black tie wedding film by Story of Eve with you, and today we share the rest of their story by Weddings by KARA. Equally timeless and elegant I just know you are going to adore this wedding day at Tankardstown House as much as we do...
Gorgeous bride Ruth tells us how she and Ross ended up together..."Introduced by a mutual friend back in early 2009 we immediately hit it off. After dating for nearly a year we moved in together, to a quaint one bedroom apartment in Dun Laoghaire overlooking the sea and the yacht club where we both spent most of our spare time sailing. In the early days, job offers in Pittsburgh and New York threatened to change our path but nothing was strong enough to pull us apart. We both knew early on that the relationship was something special. In December 2013 I was offered a job in The Cayman Islands and after long discussions decided to make the move with Ross following a few months later."
After five very happy years together Ross proposed overlooking the Caribbean ocean on a private section of beach in the Cayman Islands. Ross got down on one knee, and Ruth of course said yes.
For their wedding Ruth and Ross returned home to Ireland for a classic church ceremony and elegant black tie reception at the wonderful Tankardstown House.
Ruth explains what made Tankardstown House so perfect for them..."What really sealed the deal for us was when we actually arrived at Tankardstown and saw the fabulous orangery where the majority of the wedding reception would be held. It was such a beautiful room and had so much daylight, it really set an amazing atmosphere. That coupled with the fabulous wedding coordinator and staff that we met and the reputation that the venue has for its food, it instantly made it to the top of our list."
With Tankardstown House confirmed Ruth and Ross got busy personalising their wedding day including Cuban cigars, an impressive tiered cake by The Wedding Cake Boutique, light up R & R letters and even an extra special surprise for Ruth. Ruth remembers..."Having planned every little detail of the wedding, I really thought that there would be nothing that could surprise me on the day. However half way through the wedding bands performance Ross surprised me by getting up on stage and performing Ho Hey by the Lumineers, a song that’s quite sentimental to us. I was absolutely blown away by it and only found out after that he had been practicing for weeks with a friend in Cayman while I thought he was at the gym!"
Radiating classic elegance Ruth choose a dreamy Johanna Johnson wedding gown which she accessorised with a romantic full length veil and a pretty pink bouquet by the talented The French Touch.
An undeniably beautiful wedding, one of Ruth and Ross' favourite elements of the day was an unexpected moment rather than any of the details. Ruth recalls..."One fond memory I have was when we were in the garden doing our photo shoot and we took a break for a few moments while the photographer changed the camera lens. The venue had piped music in the garden and Frank Sinatra started playing and myself and Ross just started dancing and waltzing to it. We were so wrapped up in the moment that it was only a few moments later when we realised that the photographers had been capturing the whole thing on camera!"
For their honeymoon Ruth and Ross jetted off to Africa for two weeks, spending the first week in Tanzania on Safari and the second week in Zanzibar for some pampering. A huge congratulations to you both and thank you so much for sharing your wedding day with us all!
