From the dress, to the decor, and the flowers, to the overall vibe, today's real wedding is right up my street. Jodie & Tim are an Australian couple who tied the knot with a wine country wedding at Lindenderry Estate, just outside of Melbourne. As you'll see from their pictures by Elk & Willow Photography, Jodie & Tim's day was cool, casual, and a touch boho. A Grace Loves Lace wedding dress is always a sure sign a bride has killer style, but with a white berry-laden flower crown, wrap-skirt bridesmaid dresses, geometric floral chandeliers, and retro peacock ceremony seats, there's a lot more ideas to borrow from this day than simply Jodie's gorgeous gown - though FYI, I totally want to steal that too!
Jodie & Tim’s first encounter wasn’t in the most conventionally romantic setting, “We met on a nightclub dancefloor! I was living in Queensland at the time but was down visiting friends in Melbourne. Tim approached me, we got chatting then he asked for my number,” Jodie tells us.
Love these bridesmaid dresses so much - they're really modern and 'unbridesmaidy' (that's a word, right?).
While she had to head back to Queensland straight away, Jodie was due to relocate to Melbourne after uni, so the two kept in touch and met up for dinner once she'd moved cities, “We pretty much lived in each others pockets from then on! Turns out you can find love on a dancefloor! Tim tells me he told the boys that night we met that he was going to marry me!”
This ring - I want it!
The back on this dress is so stunning, and I love Jodie's simple nude Grace Loves Lace sandals to match...
Tim popped the question to Jodie on their four year anniversary, “He planned the most special (busy) day! In the morning he told me we were off to the city to stay the night. We checked in to the hotel then were off to a picnic in the botanical gardens where he got down on one knee and proposed. It was the most amazing and surreal experience.”
And while Tim was full of nerves (sweating and heavy breathing according to Jodie), the surprises didn’t stop there, “After the picnic Tim had organised a horse and cart ride and then finished off the day at a yummy restaurant. BEST DAY EVER!”
The couple had a wedding with exactly my kind of vibe, “Relaxed, rustic and a little bohemian. Full of happiness, smiles, laughter and lots of dancing! As cliché as it sounds it really was the best day of our lives!”
Tim's blue suit paired perfectly with the relaxed feel of their day.
The couple loved that their venue allowed them to hold both their ceremony and reception in the same place, “Our guests didn’t have to travel in between and could enjoy some drinks in the beautiful vineyard while we were off having photos! We also loved that there was accommodation on site for anyone who wanted to stay and party on once the reception finished and then join us for breakfast the next morning!”
The couple had lots of cool decor touches throughout their day, “We used some beautiful peacock chairs as our signing chairs during the ceremony (I loved them so much and they made for great photos).”
Jodie's updo is so effortless stylish.
I love that these two got some bevs in while they had their portrait session!
Jodie & Tim say it was really important to them that their wedding reflected the two them, “Most of all we wanted people to have fun celebrating with us! We didn’t want too many formalities. We wanted people to eat, drink, dance and celebrate with us! We also wanted to make sure we got to spend lots of time together, after all the day/ night was about celebrating our marriage!” I told you their wedding was right up my street!
The gorgeous venue allowed for a lot of photo ops!
Jodie & Tim hired a cute caravan bar to serve drinks from during the cocktail and canapés hour. “The venue also set out a few lawn games to keep people entertained during the drinks hour.”
The couple say the staff at Lindenderry Estate were really flexible, and allowed them to style the space as they wanted, change up the timings, and add lots of their own personal touches.
Such a cool alternative to the usual suitcase or basket for cards!
Their advice for other couples? Make your day about you! “Go with the things you love and don’t second guess yourself! People are so genuinely happy for you, don’t sweat the little details, it will be amazing and it really is the best day of your life as everyone tells you! We were on a high for the week after, I just wanted to re-live it. Remind yourself through the planning process, ultimately you are getting to marry the love of your life, so don’t sweat the small details!”
A caramel drip wedding cake - yum!
The Aussie couple are set to head Stateside for their honeymoon, “We will spend a month in New York, San Francisco, LA, Vegas and Hawaii on the way home for some relaxation! We cannot wait!” Now that’s a cool trip!
What a beautiful, laid-back, wedding day (I have such a soft spot for Australian weddings, can you tell!). Thanks so much to Jodie & Tim for sharing their day - and to Elk & Willow Photography for sending these beautiful pictures our way.
