Close To Your Heart - Morag and Eamonn's Wedding by Elisha Clarke

There's no place like home for today's Real Wedding couple, Morag and Eamonn who celebrated their wedding across Dublin's fair city. Starting with a ceremony in Grand Canal Dock's Registry Office, a trip down the canal for some tasty eats in Locks Brasserie followed by some drinks and dancing in The Cliff Townhouse.

They say 'there's no place like home' and for today's real wedding, couple Morag and Eamonn made the city they call home a huge feature of their wedding - moving across Dublin's fair city for the day, celebrating in three different venues along the way. Starting with a ceremony in Grand Canal Dock's Registry Office, walking down the canal to dine in Locks Brasserie followed by drinks and dancing in The Cliff Townhouse on St. Stephen's Green. Keeping pace, and catching their love along the way, Elisha Clarke was the lady behind the lens. Sharing a day in Dublin with family and friend's sounds pretty good to me, all you Dubliners will enjoy this real wedding I'm sure...

Morag and Eamon met in their student days back in Trinity 10 years ago and in their own words have "essentially been joined at the hip ever since."

Eamonn is a man for the quiet and understated romance, and likes to shine the spotlight on his gorgeous wife, we think as it was Eamonn’s 30th birthday when he proposed at home as they were getting ready to go out. "It was very sweet and very Eamonn. We told everyone at his party later that night so it was a double celebration."

First stop on the wedding day, was the Registry Office at Grand Canal where, surrounded by family and friends, the couple said 'I do'.

The ceremony was a laid back and intimate with some tears and plenty of  laughter, all the while 'Uncle' Tommy playing music that made it very Morag and Eamonn!

After the ceremony, Morag and Eamonn slipped away for some intimate photographs while walking along the canal at Portobello..."We wanted the day to be so casual that we initially thought we didn’t want a photographer. But we couldn’t have been more wrong, and are delighted that we used Elisha Clarke. She floated around in the background and did a fantastic job of capturing the spirit of the day."

Both Morag and Eamon shone in the style stakes on their wedding day. Eamon's knitted tie and deep french navy suit are the last word in gentlemanly chic, while his new wife (we can say that now, they've swopped the rings - whooohoo!) simply shone. How amazing is her little BHLDN capelet over the J Crew dress - and for the second day running we have a fabulous bob on a bride. Is it a trend??

We wanted a day that reflected us as a couple and our life together for the last 10 years. We couldn’t think of anything better than sharing a day in Dublin, our home, with our family and friends. We were positive that we wanted a very intimate ceremony and a fabulous meal followed by a party that evening.

After deciding Dublin was the place to be, Morag and Eamonn had to choose the perfect venue to suit their chilled out vibe... Once we had decided we wanted to have the wedding in Dublin, we pinned our hopes on having the meal in Locks Brasserie. The food was our number one priority which is why we wanted to bring everyone to our favourite restaurant. They didn’t disappoint — the food was amazing.

After dinner at Locks, Morag and Eamonn brought all their guests to the Cliff Townhouse where they were joined by more friends and family for a party... It is a beautiful space and had a very lounge like and relaxed feel which is exactly what we wanted.

What made the day really special and personal to you? The ceremony was so much more personal than we could have hoped for. We were apprehensive about having the ceremony in the Registry Office but the Registrar was fantastic and we personalised it with readings and vows. It’s not the most beautiful building but it was a beautiful ceremony and that's what counts. We were also anxious that we were having the wedding across 3 venues (the Registry Office, Locks Brasserie and the Cliff Townhouse) but it worked perfectly.

What advice would you give to brides and grooms planning their day? Do it your way. We were very lucky in that our amazing families supported our less than traditional choices and that made it so much easier. Enjoy the day and don't panic.  Everything is going to work out as you wanted it to. Don’t be afraid to delegate as people are delighted to help. Choose your suppliers carefully and put your trust in them — they’re professionals!

Congratulations to Morag and Eamonn on their wedding day! A big thank you to Elisha Clarke for sharing her work with One Fab Day! To see more, pop over to her website elishaclarke.com.
