This Dublin wedding took in no less than three fabulous city-centre venues! Our real wedding couple Sarah and Mark set out to create an elegant wedding day and Spellbound Photography, captured all of the style and special touches which we can't wait to show off. If you are looking for wedding inspiration that speaks modern simplicity and is full of less-is-more aesthetics, will adore this city-chic celebration right here!
Identical to her mother's bouquet on her wedding day and a flower she still adores now, Sarah, the stunning bride, chose a bouquet composed entirely of freesia.
A personalised Moet bottle and a classic bridal perfume from Tom Ford are just a few of the details! Let's start by going back in time to how these two met. Childhood sweethearts, our couple first connected at a nightclub 16 years ago. What's more, it was on the same date as their wedding day! The eventual proposal was described as personal, intimate and everything Sarah wished for. "As I would have wanted, at home catching me by surprise in private, followed by a few drinks watching a Fleetwood Mac gig before we shared the news the next day!"
Daring to be different, Sarah our stylish bride chose a fabulous pair of Jimmy Choos shoes in acid yellow! A bold and beautiful pop of colour to her bridal look. Meanwhile her cute flower girls wore rich purple to complement the neutral florals.
The wedding took place in Dublin City Centre on a sunny day in August with 84 guests. Summing up the day, the couple described the celebration as an elegant yet chilled summer party that safely brought all of their loved ones back together again for the first time. "It was a day of celebrating our love in a very intimate ceremony followed by an exquisite meal and a night of relaxed fun," they explain.
The wedding ceremony took place in Dublin City Hall - a given for both Sarah and Mark who knew this would be the place without even discussing it. They made amazing music selections, such as Bach Suite No.3 in D Major for the aisle walk with her father and Thank You by Led Zeppelin for the exit. Their favourite song of all was Songbird by Fleetwood Mac which echoed the hall as the newlyweds signed their marriage registry.
When it came to was most important to them while arranging their wedding, it was simply making sure that their friends and family could enjoy being with them but still feel safe as the pandemic was still an ongoing concern. "We had to ensure everyone was kept safe and thankfully not one person, as a result, became unwell. Aside from this, we wanted as much time as a couple on the day so we stayed in the hotel together the night before to wake up together on our big day before parting until City Hall. A very normal fun morning was had for me with my girls, and Mark hit the gym and spent time with his family," says Sarah.
Mark the groom was dressed in a custom-made charcoal grey three-piece wool suit finished with deep crimson accents in his tie and buttonhole. If you look closely, you will spot Mark's bespoke cufflinks by Alexander McQueen, a wedding gift from his bride. Sarah, the radiant bride, epitomised modern simplicity in her timeless wedding gown of silk satin that hugged her silhouette. The Sarah Seven gown was paired with a detachable floor-length sheer cape.
The stunning mother of the bride looked gorgeous in her all-white ensemble! Sarah decided to have her mother stand by her side and sign the registration in place of having any bridesmaids; how incredibly precious!
As for wedding advice from our couple, Sarah and Mark say: "Don’t wait to enjoy the day, open your eyes early and get on with soaking it all in. As so much was taken out of our control traditionally it really reminded us in the days up to the wedding that being together was the most important detail. A key tip if you can afford it, is to stay a third day after everyone has gone home, to soak up the venue after the madness, fill the room with your wedding flowers to immerse yourself in and don’t be shy in ordering breakfast lunch and dinner to the room so you can relax, chat over the memories and go through your photos together while still on a high!"
After the wedding ceremony, the couple and the guests made their way to The Intercontinental D4 for their reception, and then on to The Botanical Garden at Opium for the nighttime celebrations. "The Intercontinental was a beautiful choice, secured after being let down with our wedding cancelled two weeks prior to the big day. A huge thank you to the team in the Botanical Garden, specifically John who took us on when no one else would and treated us like royalty, even checking in with us the day before to reassure us all was well," say the couple. The couple asked for the flower table arrangements to be created into bouquets so that guests could take them home to enjoy them!
When it came to jetting off on honeymoon, the timing was not in their favour, so instead of travelling across the globe to Japan, they chose a staycation and the best Ireland had to offer! "We went up the West coast of Ireland from Dingle to Westport and home via the Drumshanbo distillery. Ireland is spectacular and having a honeymoon here was exactly what we needed and so special!"
