Having seen hundreds of weddings and thousands of ideas on pinterest, we've come to the conclustion that Wedding DIY projects should be three things: easy, save you money and definitely add some personality to the day. So of course I love today's DIY project: A Best Day Ever Glitter Wedding Cake Topper. With just card, glitter and some glue in 10 simple steps you've made something super-fun that will jazz up any wedding cake. Seriously, grab your glitter and your glue and let's go!
For the Best Day Ever DIY glitter wedding cake topper you will need:
- Printer
- White Card
- Blade
- Scissors
- Cutting Mat
- Washi tape
- PVA Glue
- Gold Glitter
- Paint Brushes (suitable for PVA glue)
- 2 x Cupcake Liners
- Skewers
- Glue
- Gun
10 Simple Steps...
1. Gather your supplies for your project, pop on some music and let's get started!
2. Download the Best Day Ever printable template (at the bottom of this post) and print onto the white card.
3. Cut around the outside of the template with your scissors.
4. Tape the template to the cutting mat with the washi tape* and carefully remove the white from inside the letters using your blade. *Washi tape is a bit more gentle to the card when removing rather than sellotape, plus it looks pretty too!
5. Fill one cupcake liner with glitter and the other with glitter. This isn't a necessity but it makes this project much easier to manage and easier to clean up!
6. Using the PVA glue, coat the template in a thin layer of glue.
7. Now for the fun bit! Shake the glitter over the template, ensuring there are no white gaps.
8. Shake off the excess glitter and leave to dry.
9. Once dry, use your glue gun to affix the skewers to the back of the cake topper.
10. Leave to dry and Voila! Your very own Best Day Ever wedding cake topper ready to spruce up any cake!
