Jesse & Penny are a Taiwanese couple who met in Glasgow, and returned to this part of the world to tie the knot. Their Irish wedding at Fanningstown Castle, was the perfect intimate affair. With just their closest family by their side, the couple were able to make their destination wedding in Ireland their own. Penny wore a spectacular vintage wedding dress (fans of all things sparkly are going to be obsessed!) with a cape and carried a beautiful dried flower bouquet, swapping out her stunning headpieces throughout the day. With their very own castle to make their own for the day, and In Love Photography to capture all the romance, there are a lot of pretty details to swoon over from this sweet real wedding.
Penny & Jesse met in Glasgow while they were both studying abroad for their post-grad, “We became friends but only got together years afterwards when we were both back home and started to work.”
Jesse popped the question a few months after he and Penny finally got together, “It was on a Christmas eve and we were on vacation in Taroko National Park. He was pretty nervous and drank a lot before finally popping the question with Georg Jensen’s Torun ring.
Penny's love of sparkle didn't stop with her wedding dress!
The headpiece and belt add such a polish to her dramatic vintage gown.
I love Jesse's statement brooch and tie combination!
Penny came across the Irish venue on One Fab Day! “I saw Fanningstown Castle on a website saying it’s perfect for an intimate wedding. I shared the link with Jesse and he thought the place looked fabulous. And that was it!”
The couple say time passed so quickly on their wedding day, “We simply had no time to go through everything beforehand. Everything went smooth and spontaneous. The vibe was great and intimate. We definitely felt loved and blessed. We were trying to create a mixed feel of roaring twenties, boho and festival, and it worked really great.”
The couple wanted a simple and personal feel for their wedding, as Penny tells us, “We wanted the wedding to be very us (or very ‘me’, and Jesse’s all very supportive to my ideas). And nothing too complicated, we just wanted all our family and friends to feel comfortable and enjoy the moment.”
Penny says it was all the finishing touches that made the day so special for her, “The vintage dress, the veil, the brooches, the music, the unity candles, the banner and flags, the wedding cake – almost everything are hand-picked, hand-made either by ourselves or customized for the wedding. And all these made the wedding very ‘us’.”
Even Penny's nails had glitter - loving this lady's style!
For their honeymoon, the couple took in some of their favourite places, “We went straight on a road trip in Ireland after our wedding. Then we went back to Glasgow and finally the Netherlands for our honeymoon. We didn’t make any plan for the trip, instead, we went back to places where we used to go and re-lived the memory.”
Oh what a lovely day - such intimate weddings always look really special, don't you think? Thanks so much to Penny & Jesse for sharing their beautiful Irish wedding with us - and to In Love Photography for capturing it all and sending the gorgeous pictures our way.
