Surrounded by the phenomenal views of the Californian countryside, real wedding couple Monica and Bryan exchanged their vows at Viansa Winery in the Sonoma Valley. In a spectacular setting full of natural beauty, this U.S. couple traveled from Texas to The Golden State for their dreamy, sun-soaked celebration. It features a glorious outdoor ceremony, a jaw-dropping reception, and chic vintage car portraits, and not forgetting the gorgeous bridal style, check out their special day, captured by Willow and Ben Photography, below!
What a super cute getting ready outfit! Loving Monica's feather-trimmed bridal robe and pink heart print slides.
Monica and Bryan met while at work. The bride tells their story of how they came to be. "He was the new guy in the office and I was the welcoming committee!". She adds, "We became instant friends but nothing more, as he was too young for me! Instead, I made it my mission to find him a girlfriend. Five years later our friendship transformed into more, and the man of my dreams had been right in front of me all along."
Bryan proposed at one of the couple's very favourite spots. Monica reminices, "Bryan and I are members and frequent visitors to the Houston Museum of Fine Arts. We went on a regular visit, and to my surprise, he proposed in the sculpture garden. He had it completely timed and planned so that we had a reservation for a champagne toast at the museum restaurant, LeJardiner, immediately following his proposal. We then had a dinner at the same restaurant where we had our very first date, Oporto." How sweet!
The ceremony and reception took place at Viansa, a hilltop wine estate with gorgeous views of the Sonoma Valley which the couple fell head over heels for. Monica tells us what made it "the one". "Without a doubt, the breath-taking views. I grew up in Texas, where it’s summer for 8 months of the year. But I absolutely love the outdoors and wanted to get married outside. California offers the climate for an outdoor wedding in June, which was our set date. (Bryan and I married on my parent’s wedding anniversary.) Viansa’s vast size allowed for three separate areas for ceremony, reception and dancing, and allowed us to utilize both indoor and outdoor space."
Looking back on their day, the couple tell us their ceremony was incredibly special and filled with wonderful moments. Monica says, "As mentioned, we married on my parents’ wedding anniversary. This date made it very special for us, as my father passed in 1999. His reserved chair was adorned with a beautiful flower arrangement."
"Bryan’s sister read a beautiful poem titled, I’ll Be There For You, by Louise Cuddon. It summed up our love and relationship perfectly."
"We were also married by a married couple – two of our best friends – Tiffany and Joshua Pittman. Tiffany and I have been friends since college, so we thought it was unique to be married by a married couple, who we both loved and knew our courtship and relationship."
When asked what inspired their fun wedding aesthetic, Monica says, "I love color! My own wardrobe is full of colorful pieces, so I knew I could not do the current trend of whites and pale tones. I have always been drawn to the color-blocking style of using pink with red. I knew that with the contrast of the beautiful outdoor scenery of the venue, these colors would pop and give the romantic feel we were hooping for. The colors then inspired the rest of the aesthetic to be fun, yet elegant with a touch of glam."
Monica's beautiful satin ballgown is by the designer Calla Blanche. We love the dramatic neckline paired with the diamanté belt as well as the diamanté-trimmed open-back detail. She completed her bridal look with chic oversized bow earrings, sparkly Badgley Mischka flats, and a bold red lip.
As a flower lover, I am kind of head over heels for Monica’s incredible bright bouquet!
The couple's rescue pup, Bennie, had a big part to play on the day with his illustration used on napkins, bar signage, etc. Monica says, "He did grant his approval to be mentioned and featured on One Fab Day!".
Post ceremony, guests celebrated with bespoke His and Hers cocktails, plenty of bubbles and delicious canapes.
When planning their day, the couples main priority from the very beginning was their guests. Monica tells, "First and foremost, I wanted our guests to get the most out of a destination wedding. I wanted their trip and the effort they went into traveling for our wedding to be worth it. I wanted them to have the best time, in the most beautiful setting, making memories of a lifetime. It makes me genuinely happy when guests still refer to our wedding weekend with fond memories."
At the entrance to the reception, guests were greeted by a fun, hot pink acrylic table plan.
The tables were adorned with arrangements of pink and red blooms atop floral printed table linens. Matching printed napkins, round menus with tassel detail and acrylic table place names awaited the guests at their seats.
Such pretty tablescapes!
Bryan serenaded Monica to kick off the reception singing “She’s Got a Way” by Billy Joel. How sweet is that?! Monica says, "It was a very special moment; one I will treasure forever."
Offering advice for other couples planning their day, Monica says, "Hire a wedding planner! I’ve decided I need a planner for my day-to-day life after how seamless and easy the wedding was with our amazing planner, Mary, there by our side."
She also adds, "Be realistic about your budget, and prioritize" and "Live in every single moment of the day. Anxiety be damned."
For their first dance as husband and wife, the pair danced to “The Way You Look Tonight,” by Frank Sinatra. "A fellow blue-eyed guy from New Jersey, like Bryan", Monica laughs.
After the celebrations, the pair jetted off on a two week honeymoon spending the first week in California, visiting Yosemite National Park, and then Big Sur and Carmel. The spent the following week relaxing on the beach in Cancun, Mexico. Bliss!
A very special thank you to Monica, Bryan and Willow and Ben Photography for sharing this spectacular Californian wedding celebration with One Fab Day! There are also plenty more gorgeous photos from their special day to check out in the gallery below!
