I'm lucky enough to see lots of beautiful wedding dresses as part of my job and by now I have list as long as my arm of dream - dresses I'd love to own, and designers I would love to meet. I'd just love to pick their brains to find out how they come up with such beautiful designs season after season. Today's Stuff We Love Bridal Designer is one of my all time favourites and if you're not already familiar, then I think you might just love Collette Dinnigan wedding dresses too. Collette creates stunning gowns with a fresh and modern twist. Her wedding gowns are all works of art and quite different from other wedding gown designers techniques - still using delicate embroidery and embellishment, but somehow they're really unique. You'll see what I mean...
South African born Collette originally started her career as a costume designer for the Australian TV network ABC. After breaking out with her own lingerie collection she opened up her first boutique and began designing wedding dresses. The rest as they say i
You might recall Alice's gorgeous cotton wedding gown from her real wedding to Ferg on the clifftop in Dalkey we showed a couple of weeks ago - it was a Collette Dinnigan wedding dress she got as a bargain in Costume before they discontinued the line,
Collette Dinnigan's wedding dresses are both romantic with a little bit of a sexy edge. Her gowns feature French fabrics including French lace and tulle and incredible hand-embroidering to bring those amazing materials to life (if you've ever seen french lace in real life you'll know what I mean - the difference is incredible)
The 2014 Collette Dinnigan bridal collection features a variety of dress styles - from structured silhouettes, light and floaty duchess cuts and elegant bodices with tulle skirts, each with their own individual touches. I particularly love the beaded bodices, the detail is just sensational, with the on-trend gold and bronze beading giving each gown added glamour and that star quality you need going down the aisle.
This last gown has to be a personal fave - the deep v at the back accentuated with an edging of silver beads culminating in a princess bow. Dream!
So there you have it - that's a sneaky peeky of Collette's Magical Wonderland collection and if you loved all the gorgeous designs as much as I do, you must check out her other bridal collections Princess Diaries, Enchanted and True Romance (for more incredible beaded embellishments!)
While Collette Dinnigan is based in Australia, her design have not graced our shores yet,but you can find some of her fashion collections over at www.net-a-porter.com but maybe someone in the UK or Ireland will stock them soon...
