We love a cutting-edge wedding trend as much as the next editorial team, but the styling in today's real wedding captivated us specifically because it had a timeless feel to it. UK bride Sophie and Irish groom Garry made elegant, vintage-inspired choices for their big day at Cliff at Lyons, working with a swoonworthy colour palette of lilac, cream and muted pinks, and the results are simply beautiful. As you'll hear about later on in the feature, this couple had a very emotional year, but they still managed to pull their big day together in just seven months, which, I think you'll agree, is quite the achievement! The wonderful Kathy Silke Photography has been kind enough to share the photographs from their wedding with us, so let's dive in, shall we!?
How incredible do these gals look in their wedding-day finery!? Sophie chose a lace appliqué wedding dress with a sheer-panel bodice, while her bridesmaids wore chic, midi-length lilac dresses that mirrored the silhouette of the bride's gown.
Sophie and Garry tell us that they met in an Irish bar in Essex on St. Patrick's Day. Never underestimate the romance of a good Irish pub!
Garry picked an incredibly cool location for his proposal; Aqua Restaurant at The Shard. "I popped the question during dinner on the 31st floor, overlooking London at night."
When it came time to plan the wedding, the couple quickly identified two priorities for their big day; the venue, and the band! "Entertainment is the key to a great night," Garry says, "and we couldn't have asked for more from Top of the Popz."
Sophie and Garry had a humanist ceremony, which they were able to customise to reflect their personalities. "We included little elements that made it personal to us including a ring warming with our guests, and a sand ritual," Gary says. "We also marked the passing of Sophie's mum, which was only three weeks prior."
The beaded chain detail at the back of Sophie's wedding is so, so pretty!
Sophie and Garry describe their wedding as, "completely relaxed, romantic, full of family, friends and fun. It was quite simply the best day of our lives."
Garry's advice for engaged couples is to trust that everything will work out! "It will all come together," he says, "so remember that it's all about you as a couple."
For their honeymoon, Sophie and Garry went to Dubai for three days and Mauritius for 10. "Mauritius was incredible," he says. "We stayed at Paradise Cove and the name says it all!"

Before we go, we've got to say thanks so much to Sophie and Garry for giving us a peak at their marvellous wedding day, and to Kathy Silke Photography for providing the beautiful photographs.
