Keeping things simple and chilled Julie and Liam prioritized having their church ceremony and Langtons wedding reception nice and close so they could relax on the day. Their efforts pulled off, allowing for a classic and chilled Langtons wedding - taking in the many different options the venue has to offer and some local scenery with Bronte Photography...
Julie tells us their love story..."Liam and I met at work in Dublin and were in the same group of friends for a year or so. I went travelling for a year and while I was abroad we kept in touch regularly. It wasn't until I returned from my career break that we realised our friendship had developed into something more. It wasn't long before romance blossomed!"
On Julie's 30th birthday Liam surprised her with a romantic proposal at Brooklodge. Julie remembers..."After a day of lounging around and drinking champagne to ease the pain of turning 30 he surprised me even more by getting down on one knee and popping the question. The biggest surprise of all was that he had bought the most beautiful engagement ring all on his own!"
Eager to have a very chilled, personal wedding day Julie and Liam chose a ceremony and reception venue that were close to each other and filled their ceremony with song choices that meant something to them. Julie told us..."The priest allowed us great freedom with our music choices. This enabled us to pick songs we love ranging from the Beatles to Fleetwood Mac and have family members perform them which was very special to us."
After their ceremony Julie and Liam took a walk around Kilkenny town with Bronte Photography. Julie remembers..."Having the church and venue so close together allowed us time to escape for a stroll together through the city which proved to be one of the most enjoyable parts of the day as it allowed us some time together to take in it all in."
Venue number two was the character filled Langtons. Julie describes what made it perfect for them..."From the minute we saw Langtons we knew it was the place for us. With so many nooks and crannies and each room so individual and different we immediately felt that the hotel represented the style we were looking for. To keep things interesting we loved that we could have the meal in the ballroom and then we could surprise our guests by moving everyone to Set Theatre where the band were set up and ready to go. The flexibility that Langton’s allowed us meant we could introduce all of our own ideas to make the day as personal to us as possible. On a previous visit we had fallen in love with Bridies Bar in Langtons and it was the perfect location for an after party the following day."
A trained graphic designer Julie decided to create all of the wedding stationery and table decorations, including vinyl table numbers as a nod to her and Liam's love of music.
Julie recalls..."We incorporated our love of music into the table settings and used vinyl as a centrepiece for each table. Each table was named after a different song which Viva Manila then played for guests when they arrived at their table. This worked really well as guests were involved from the beginning and ensured a lively atmosphere. In addition, we honoured some family members that are no longer with us by displaying their pictures on the escort table. We felt this paid tribute to our loved ones in a subtle manner. With a lot of help from our friends we managed to put our personal touch on the venue."
