In the month of February, nestled between Lough Eske and The Blue Stack Mountains, Christina and Sean became husband and wife in the beautiful hills of Donegal. The sky may have been dull, but the day felt warm with love and bright with peachy florals and happy smiles. The couple who flew back home from New York, couldn't wait to reunite with their loved ones and celebrate their marriage in a place that holds very special and poignant memories, especially for the bride. Anna G Photography was on hand to capture the wonderful moments of Christina and Sean's wedding in Northern Ireland! Today's real wedding awaits...
Gucci perfume with blooming fresh flowers, breathtaking Manolo Blahnik shoes and adding that touch of sparkle, diamond earrings and rings. These are a few of our favourite things! Fine details are the elements that can set apart a wedding from lovely to simply 'wow'! From the scent that leaves your guests wondering what you're wearing, to the sentimental love letters exchanged the morning of the wedding on exquisite deckle-edge stationery stationery, featuring beautiful love quotes in handwritten calligraphy. Christina and Sean's thoughtful touches can be seen throughout from beginning to end.
One particular detail that completely stood out to Christina was a tropical Hawaiian shirt one night many years ago! She explains: " Sean and I met at the Soundwave musical festival, by the sea in Petrcane, Croatia in 2011. We were travelling with our separate groups of friends and it was Sean’s Hawaiian shirt that did the trick. We met again at a boat party the next day, it was meant to be because by coincidence we had the same travel plans for after the festival and met up again a few days later in Slovenia. After the trip, we texted for the next few months before meeting in Oxford where Sean was living at the time. We began dating then and never looked back!
While Croatia brought these lovebirds together, it was in New York, that their relationship was cemented. In the summer of 2017, the couple relocated to the big apple. Two years later, during a trip to The Hamptons, Sean popped the question during a walk through the vines in Wolfer Estate Vineyard, which was a complete surprise to Christina. Christina and Sean decided to get married at home in Ireland, surrounded by their nearest and dearest. "Our wedding was postponed by a year, and so after a year of uncertainty, having all our friends and family present was the most important thing to us. Creating a beautiful wedding full of personalised details that reflected our relationship was also important and the delay gave us time to plan the fine details," she says.
Christina and her family paid a special homage to someone who was greatly missed on the day. "The church we got married in is our local church, and also where my mum who passed away is buried. In the morning, my family and I went to Mum’s grave to lay flowers before the madness began," she says. "Our priest who married us also married my mum and dad and it was his last wedding before his retirement."
Pretty in pink! Let's begin with the beautiful colour palette. Subtle peach and pink tones are combined with neutral ivory and creams. Soft, romantic and warming in the crisp February morning. Check out those blush Manola Blahniks cheekily peeping through. The blossoming pillar floral display, beautifully frames the entrance making it the perfect picture spot for the couple and guests!
Romantic, classic and timeless were the words used to describe the feel and vibe of the beautiful wedding day in Northern Ireland. And while Christina had to go wedding dress shopping alone in New York due to restrictions, the silver lining was the magical moment that came the morning of the wedding when she shared her first look with her adored bridal party. "Being able to get ready with my bridesmaids in our family house in Carrick was so special as it was the first time I saw them in their dresses, and also, the first time they saw me in mine. I tried on over 100 dresses alone before finding the one!" she recalls.
The radiant bride was all about simplicity and chicness. Her Alyssa Kristin wedding dress boasts a stylish off-the-shoulder neckline with a beautiful A-line skirt with a lace overlay. She completed her elegant look with classic Hollywood waves and flawless glowing makeup.
Sean and his groom-squad look ever so handsome in their stylish suits. The cool navy tone complements the warm peach to perfection - showcased by the beautiful ladies! Sean, the groom, set his style apart by wearing a bow tie and patent shoes. Dapper and ever so elegant!
Their chosen wedding venue held a lot more than beauty and class, it had memories. "My family are from Donegal and we have always loved Harvey’s Point. I have so many happy memories there. We switched our date from summery June to February, and it was still just as beautiful, especially with the views of the snow-capped mountains by the lough. The service and food can not be beaten!" says the bride. The couple enjoyed the views in all their glory during their drinks reception as they listened to the strains of The Cazettes who consider themselves a 'non-wedding band wedding band' and love to perform a bespoke setlist.
Spot the beautiful floral pillars once again? We love how the newlyweds cleverly and sustainably repurposed their décor to frame and enhance the charming wedding cake display.
The reception room was kissed throughout with floral delights. They used the tall geo stands as table centrepieces to add height and an added pop of colour. The couple also added creative and personal touches with their table names inspired by their travels and beautiful gilded place name cards. All framed by beautiful views of Lough Eske from the ballroom.
The lovely newlyweds offer some reliable advice to those on their wedding planning journey. "Plan a wedding for yourselves, prioritise what is most important to you and book those suppliers early. Once we had booked the date at the venue we prioritised the photographer, flowers and music, and so we were very relieved that our photographer Anna, along with our other suppliers, could move to our new date in February."
To conclude their much-awaited celebration of love, they jetted off to the Caribbean on Honeymoon for some much-deserved R&R. "We went on a mini-moon straight after the wedding to Montego Bay, Jamaica which was amazing to relax on the beach after a busy week," they say.
Thank you to Christina, Sean and Anna G for sharing such wonderful images of your very special wedding day in Northern Ireland.
