This real wedding is a lesson in attention to detail! Edel and Barry live in Ravensdale in Co Louth with their five gorgeous children, so they didn't have far to travel for their atmospheric church ceremony on the Cooley Peninsula and rustic reception at Darver Castle in Dundalk. This stylish pair both rocked incredible wedding day looks, (we're in love with Edel's show-stopping cape!) carefully selecting every last touch, from the colour of the groom's blazer to the jewels in the bridesmaids belts. Mario Vaitkus captured all the love of this sweet family celebration...
Edel and Barry have a pretty sweet ‘how we met’ story, “We first caught each other’s eye while in a queue for Santa in Newry on Christmas Eve 2010,” explains Edel, “Who knew that this would lead to a Facebook friend request along with a first date and four years on from that very day, Barry got down on one knee at Santa in front the children. I said yes!”
The gorgeous blooms! The bridesmaids bouquets kept it fresh with blush and while Edel's included a little burgundy to tie in with Barry's burgundy velvet blazer. We told you there was serious attention to detail!
The couple held their wedding mass at the beautiful Grange Chapel, close to where Edel grew up.
The couple have five children, Kristanna, Robyn, Dylan, Sienna and Cheyanne, all of whom played an important role in the celebrations.
Eager to have all the girls tie their looks together, she commissioned Embellish by Cheryl to create bespoke pieces for each bridesmaid, flower girl, her mother and herself, "The maid of honour got a beautiful belt made for wearing on her dress, while the mini bridesmaid got a detailed collar and button to attach onto her dress, the flower girls had gorgeous bracelets made. The mother of the bride came up with her own ideas of what type of hat she wanted and the very talented Cheryl gave her just that along with a beautiful embellished necklace. Cheryl created my head piece to exactly to what I'd requested."
Edel fell in love with the romantic rustic surroundings of Darver Castle for their reception. "We both wanted a relaxed feel, something vintage and rustic. We found that our day was just magical and more than we had hoped for. It was made all the more special with our family and friends there, the weather being so beautiful, and everyone enjoyed themselves because so much hard work went into the preparations.”
The couple enjoyed a well-earned break after the wedding, “We headed away on our honeymoon later that week and we stayed in the Tivoli Marina Vilamoura in Portugal. We couldn’t have asked for anything else with the beautiful scenery and sandy beaches in a relaxed atmosphere. It was just what we both needed with a busy run up to our wedding day.”
