2015 was quite the year for celebrity weddings and for some amazing, inspiring celebrity wedding dresses. While each celebrity wedding dress reflected their personal style, surprisingly, many of this years celeb brides channeled a touch of royal style with inspiration from the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton a whopping four years after she and Prince William tied the knot.
Alongside the elegant princess style gowns with lace sleeves dominating the aisles, we adored the trend setting gowns with high-low hemlines and bare-all backless gowns. Here are a few of our favourite celebrity wedding gowns from 2015...
Nicky Hilton in Valentino
When it came to choosing a wedding gown after her engagement to James Rothschild, Nicky Hilton had no doubt in her mind who she wanted to design her dream dress. In an interview Nicky said, "Ever since I was a little girl I wanted Valentino to design my wedding dress. Valentino is the definition of timeless elegance, I don't think there's another couture house like it,". Her beautiful Valentino creation was made with three different tones of ivory and silver featuring a high neckline, lace sleeves and a balloon skirt paired with a long veil featuring vintage lace.
Sophia Amoruso in Alexander McQueen
#GIRLBOSS Sophia Amoruso choose a textured Alexander McQueen ballgown which she found on a whim in vintage store Lily et Cie in Beverly Hills to tie the knot to her love, Joel Jarek DeGraff. Sophia paired her gorgeous gown with long Sermoneta gloves and a short veil. Sophia ditched her signature fringe and bob for long flowing looks for a truly romantic bridal look.
Kim Sears in Jenny Packham
Andy Murray's beautiful new wife Kim Sears channelled Kate Middleton for their big day in a stunning Jenny Packham gown paired with simple half-up, half-down hair accessorized with a rhinestone hairpiece. Check out the previous Jenny Packham collections here.
Sophie Hunter in Valentino
Director Sophie Hunter wore a stunning, high neckline, long sleeved Valentino gown in silver grey with a sweeping train to wed Benedict Cumberbatch on Valentines Day earlier this year. The pair kept a low profile before, during and after the nuptials. The only sneak peek of her gown was a behind the scenes snap from Maison Valentino's own Instagram during her design fittings showing the gown in all its glory.
Whitney Port in Ashi Studio
The Hills star-turned-fashion-designer wed her longtime boyfriend, Tim Rosenman, in an edgy waterfall, hi-low hemline dress designed by Beirut bridal designers Ashi Studio. Allison Williams in Oscar de la Renta
For her September wedding, Girls star Allison Williams said I do to Ricky Van Even in an elegant floral lace Oscar de la Renta gown with low back bow detailing and with lace sleeves, which she paired with Brian Atwood wedges.
Michelle Keegan in Galia Lahav
For her fairytale wedding to Mark Wright, Michelle Keegan wore a bespoke ivory creation designed by Galia Lahav which she found at a trunk show at Browns Bride in London. The gorgeous backless fish tail design was made of french lace and decorated with Swarovski crystals, which she paired with a Peter Langer veil and a pair of custom Terry De Havilland platform shoes. Heartthrob hubbie Mark opted for a black tuexdo by Stephen Williams.
Sofia Vergara in Zuhair Murad
The Modern Family star Sofia Vergara and Magic Mike actor Joe Manganiello tied the knot in a lavish Palm Beach, Florida celebration where she wore a custom-made Zuhair Murad gown with detachable overskirt while groom Joe was dashing in his John Varvatos tux.
Christine Bleakley in Suzanne Neville
On a sparkling winters day, TV presenter Christine Bleakley tied the knot with footballer Frank Lampard in a stunning bespoke creation by British designer Suzanne Neville. The lace princess style gown with slight fishtail kick was covered in twinkling seed pearls and accessorised with sparkling heels and a lace trimmed veil.
Christina Carano in a Boho Beauty
New wife of singer Jason Mraz, Christina Carano wore a beautiful boho number for her utterly dreamy woodland wedding earlier this year. Her gown featured a high neck, long sleeves and sheer skirt which she paired with a floral headband and a simple bouquet of cream flowers. Big fan of boho? Vanessa Williams in Carmen Marc Valvo
Channelling an Egyptian goddess, Vanessa Williams donned two custom designs by Carmen Marc Valvo for her big day. The first, a sleek ivory and gold-trimmed combo for the ceremony and the second, a gown covered in gold leather petals for the reception. Her new hubbie Jim Skrip rocked a sharp white suit.
Geri Halliwell in Phillipa Lepley
Geri Halliwell looked like a modern day princess in a gown by luxury couture wedding dress designer Phillipa Lepley when she tied the knot to F1 boss Christian Horner.
