A special couple require a special place in which to make a lifelong commitment to each other, and so it was natural that Brendan and Shaun chose historic Castle Leslie as their wedding venue. The beautiful estate, still a family home for the Leslies, has been the setting for many a great party, so it was perfect for a day combining glamour and high emotion. With a keen eye for detail Brendan and Shaun then amped up the already gorgeous castle with chic white décor, lots of flowers, ample groom style (wait until you see the Louboutins) and a few surprises all captured by Honey and the Moon. Not just focusing on style Brendan and Shaun were careful to incorporate lots of personal details including heartfelt hand written vows and their adorable pride and joy - their puppy Rosie.
Photographers Honey and the Moon filled us in on how this pair of dotes first met. "Brendan and Shaun have the perfect beginning to their story. A few years ago whilst walking down the street, they passed each other and their eyes met. On the count of three both looked behind and caught each other’s gaze again. They didn’t see each other for sometime after that, but with a somewhat suspect house viewing giving fate a helping hand, they were brought together again. Brendan works in property, Shaun was the viewer…who knows what happened with the house!"
Shaun proposed in Bali in the middle of a rice field during candle light dinner, which I'm sure was just as utterly romantic as it sounds.
For their glamorous castle wedding ceremony and reception Brendan and Shaun chose the historic Castle Leslie, which they decorated with lots of lush flowers and filled with their favourite people - and their little Westie terrier Rosie.
To match Brendan and Shaun's dapper looks little Rosie wore a bespoke pearl collar and lead, very, very cute.
Swooning over those shoes...
Brendan and Shaun's groomsmaids wore equally stylish fifties style groomsmaid dresses with full tulle petticoats for a little extra oomph. The girls then paired their glam dresses with simple upstyles and classic rose bouquets.
On the day Brendan and Shaun decorated the dreamy Castle Leslie ceremony space with tall cherry blossom trees, crisp white chairs for guests and subtle candles.
The couple were even lucky enough to have a very famous Castle Leslie resident grace the wedding with his presence... "Uncle Jack, eldest resident of Castle Leslie (I think around 96 and also a hardcore clubber – no really – he went to Manumission for his 85th birthday!) made an appearance to wish Shaun good luck, and wanted to know where the bride was so he could wish her well too. A few glances and a quick explanation that there wasn’t a bride but another groom, without missing a beat he said “Ah, I see, I must go salute him!” Good man, Jack.
Both Shaun and Brendan wrote their own vows, which they recited with such heartfelt conviction that there wasn't a dry eye left in the castle.
After the ceremony, Shaun, Brendan and their guests enjoyed some drinks before heading towards the opulently decorated Castle Leslie marquee...
Opting for a glamorous almost all white theme the marquee was decorated luxuriously with draped fabrics, hanging chandeliers and lots of fresh roses.
And of course, that Castle Leslie tradition - the cutting of the cake with the Leslie family sword! And what a cake!!
The night then ended with a surprise performance by Innova Irish Dance followed by a DJ late into the night.
A huge congratulations to you Brendan and Shaun, wishing you both long life and happiness! A big thank you also goes to Karolyn and Jess from Honey and the Moon for sharing their work with us, to see more from Honey and the Moon head over to www.honeyandthemoonphotography.co.uk
