We are delighted to share the very romantic love story of Aisling and David, today's real wedding couple. After meeting at a party 5 years ago and wooing Aisling on a first date they were inseperable. They celebrated their wedding in Carrygerry House making it a vintage inspired day with the help of Grace Events. They called on the talents of Simona Reinyte to capture all the lovely moments...
Aisling and Dave's love story started in an unlikely place..."As the song goes " you will always find them in the kitchen at parties". We met five years ago in the kitchen at a party of a friend. Dave, a keen surfer and general lover of the outdoors grew up in Italy, moved to Clare a year previously to set up his business Vanderlust Campervans. Little did he know that the campers wouldn't be the only thing keeping him in Ireland. I was an Ennis girl, a midwife and mum of one enjoying single life until my whole world was turned upside down. On our first date he wooed me by picking me up in a camper and taking me to dinner at Doonbeg followed by a walk on the beach. That was it after that we were inseparable."
The path from proposal to aisle wasn't straightforward, but it was full of fabulous surprises... "We went on holiday to Sri Lanka we travelled around the country on motorbike (I had never been on a motorbike before), it was amazing! Dave proposed to me at sunrise in our room overlooking the turquoise sea, sandy beach and palm trees. Needless to say I said yes! Not long after that our little Luca arrived, and 18 months after that Reuben, so finally on the 2nd of March 2013 the day we had waited so long for came."
Aisling and David chose Carrygerry House to celebrate their wedding day, having their ceremony in the conservatory surrounded by family and friends.
It was important for the couple that all of their children were directly involved in the special day, after all it's not every day that your Mum and Dad get married... "Mia my 12 year old daughter, was my only bridesmaid that was so special. Seeing Dave at the top of the aisle waiting for me with our baby Reuben in his arms and little Luca standing beside him was so perfect.
We wrote our own vows and chose our readings. Mia our daughter read, 'Oh, The Places You Will Go' by Dr Zeuss.
Carrygerry is a family run house full of old world charm, surrounded by oak trees and lush green paddocks... "We loved the intimacy of it and loved that the house would belong to us for the day. Carrygerry is also renowned for their food with head chef Niall winning numerous awards. Both Gillian and Niall were amazing hosts who caterered to all our needs from babysitting to barbecuing. We really liked the idea of marrying in the conservatory which is very picturesque."
After an emotional 'I do' Aisling and David took advantage of the grounds to have some unusual and intimate photos taken with the talented Simona Reinyte.Aisling was a beautiful bride with a Pronovias, gown from Aibheil Bridal. She combined classic makeup and a stylish Agnes Hart birdcage veil to complete her bridal look.
When it came to the styling of the day Aisling was a hands-on bride-to-be... I worked hand in hand with Louise from Grace Events I was full of ideas and she turned them into reality! Her imagination, enthusiasm and professionalism should be bottled and sold. Dave and I picked stones from the beach close to our house which we used for our guest book. Everyone wrote their names and messages on them we placed them in a hurricane vase which we have on display in our kitchen. I covered jam jars in burlap, lace and lilac silk flowers. These were used along with birdcages, candles and copious amounts of gypsophila as our table centrepieces.
The couple had one very special idea in mind to round off their day...
Carrygerry has a beautiful courtyard in which they light a firepit after dark. On seeing this I thought wouldnt it be amazing if we had our first dance outside with everyone holding sparklers. So when it came to our first dance everybody gathered outside. The DJ played "Star Star". I remember turning around seeing everybody holding the sparklers in the darkness it was one of the most magical experiences of our lives. I never envisaged it being so wonderful.
Any words of wisdom you'd like to share? "Keep it personal. Enjoy every second it is the best day ever and keep reminding yourselves of what's important you and him.We are just so mad about each other we just wanted to get married. That was it really!" And isn't that what it's all about?
Congratulations to the lovely couple, Aisling and David on their wedding day!
