At the start of the year, we compiled our list of the biggest bridesmaids dress trends for 2021, and we're delighted to see so many of these ideas popping up in real weddings and bridesmaid brand and designer collections. So excited, in fact, that we had to share our current favourite colour combinations and styles! From reliably stylish looks with serious staying-power, to up-to-the-minute fashion trends, these bridesmaid dress options will go down a treat with your girls! With something to please every taste, budget and season, you'll find bridesmaids style ideas galore (in shades of red, pink and black and cream!) in our rundown of the biggest bridesmaids dress trends right now. Enjoy!
Bridesmaids in Jumpsuits
With more and more designers adding jumpsuits to their collections and the trend becoming less alternative by the week, we expect to see even more bridesmaids in jumpsuits popping up in 2021 and 2022 weddings! It's a perfect fashion choice for informal weddings, city weddings and smaller gatherings.
Cream Bridesmaids Dresses
Last year, it was all about white bridesmaids dresses, but this year, cream is stepping into the spotlight! We're going to see a whole lot of oyster, pearl and ivory shades popping up on our radar, which can feel clean, crisp, and super modern.
Earthy Tones
Last year, terracotta was an unusual and exciting addition to our bridesmaid trend guide, and this year, it's joined by even more warm and earthy tones such as rust, sienna and brown. Universally flattering and so versatile, we've been seeing lots of this bridesmaids look in Australian wedding parties, and it's set to hit big in Ireland and the UK very soon.
Bridesmaids in Black
Could there be a simpler choice than classic black? Elegant, versatile and easy to coordinate if your gals are scattered all over the globe, black bridesmaids dresses have got so much going for them, which is why we're set to see even more of them in 2021 and 2022!
High Neckline Bridesmaids Dresses
Halter-neck bridesmaid dresses were another burgeoning trend last year, and we've seen lots of them in 2021 real weddings so far. We've seen some high neck and mock-neck styles too, which are perfect for creating a sophisticated look. High necklines compliment a range of dress fabrics, from flowy chiffon to curve-hugging crepe, and even velvet!
Bridesmaids in Red & Wine
Searches for red bridesmaid dresses surged last year as all manner of burgundy, maroon, apple and cherry shades made a comeback. Choosing red dresses for bridesmaids is a no-brainer; the hue is flattering, versatile, not to mention an all-round gorgeous wedding colour palette for any season!
Cowl Neckline Bridesmaids Dresses
Cowl neckline (and cowl back) dresses are huge this year, with the style appearing in both wedding dress and bridesmaid dress trends. This chic neckline goes hand-in-hand with another 2021 favourite, the slip midi dress (see below). You'll love this bridesmaid look if you're envisioning a minimalist and effortless aesthetic for your big day.
Patterns and Prints
We are so here for this one! Lots of patterned bridesmaids dresses have been popping up of late, and, as with embroidered dresses, they're an easy way to make your bridesmaid line up look entirely unique, while adding a massive dose of personality and whimsy. You can either mix and match for clashing prints, or deck your bridesmaids out in contrasting outfits in the same pattern.
Slip Midi Dresses
If neither maxi nor mini dresses are really your thing, there's a third option for bridesmaid dresses that we think you'll love - the slip midi dress. Slinky, chic and more wearable than you think, slip midi bridesmaid dresses aren't for everyone, as they tend to leave quite a bit of skin on show, but there are plenty of upsides, too - they're contemporary (but with a '90s twist!), and tend to be quite affordable. You'll find more information in our full guide to shopping for slip dresses for bridesmaids here.
Pretty in Pink Bridesmaids Dresses
Pink bridesmaids dresses are back with a bang! An undeniably romantic colour, pink can work for any type of wedding, from a backyard ceremony to a black tie soirée. Plus, with an abundance of hues, silhouettes and fabric choices to choose from, there’s a pink bridesmaid dress out there to suit every bridal style, too.
