Today we're delighted to show you the real wedding of Jennifer & Garret, who chose beautiful Borris House as the venue for their wedding. I had the pleasure of visiting Borris House a couple of months ago, and was blown away by the elegance of the house and the hospitality of the owners Morgan & Sara Kavanagh.
Jennifer & Garret's Borris House wedding blends classic wedding chic in a palette of black and white, with some really original and fun DIY elements - playing Casablanca on the wall during the ceremony?! Love.it! And wait til you see the carvery at each table...
Aside from a stunning venue, Jennifer & Garret also chose a brilliant photographer in Daniel from DK Photo, this is just a small selection of stunning pictures from their wedding, once you've seen them you will be aching to see more of his work we promise...
Jennifer found her ivory halterneck wedding gown, with black ribbon sash, in B Couture in Arklow, and she was full of praise for their great service and attention to detail. "I have to give a very very special mention to Bernie and keri for the amazing service myself and my bridesmaids received. It was so sad the day of my fitting to know that I wouldn't necessarily be seeing them again, it was kind of like a break up. They were just so good and made everything so easy and had fantastic suggestions about how I could accessorise my dress." Jennifer also had a little added extra with a "brooch that my uncle sent me from Canada (in the pics) which was a very very old family heirloom and a lovely surprise!"
The overall theme of the wedding was a symphony of black and white, so the bridesmaids wore full-length strapless black gowns, accessorised with pretty black and white rosettes at the waist. All the bridal party carried white gerbera daisy bouquets and the tables were decorated with black and white stationery.
Borris House has its own chapel on the grounds for religious wedding ceremonies (civil ceremonies are held in the house itself), so Jennifer and Garret opted to celebrate their ceremony there. Jennifer was walked up the aisle by her glamorous Mum, but it was another little lady who stole the limelight as Jennifer explained...
"We were moved to tears watching our 14 month old daughter walk up the aisle with an IKEA walker "pimped" out - painted white by our pal Jane and fitted with a cushion so Emilia could walk up the aisle with our rings". Awwww..
And kudos to her friend Kirsten who made a special box to keep Emilia's memories of the day to give her when she is older - a really thoughtful and special gift.
Jennifer was a very hands-on bride, putting a personal stamp on so many aspects of the day - she did all the room decor, table plans, orders of service herself. But Jennifer & Garret also wanted their guests to be hands-on too, so they organised to have a leg of lamb to each table and one nominated carver per table, "it was a great ice breaker and superb talking point and great fun to watch!" What a brilliant idea, so much fun and a great way to get the party started. The couple also arranged for Casablanca projected on the wall throughout the dinner as it was the first movie they watched together. Another romantic and clever touch (a brilliant way to cover a blank wall and provide some entertainment).
A Magical Wedding Weekend...
This perfect picture of Borris House on Jennifer and Garret's wedding night wasn't the end of their celebration. "We made a weekend out of it, which was a great idea as we had a BBQ the next day and it meant we got to really chat to people properly." Something they advise other couples to do if they can. And for those still in the throes of wedding planning another nugget of advice: "Go to a wedding fair, it was a great help and we booked our band and invites as a result of one in City West."
Big thanks to Daniel from DK Photo - this is just a sneak peek of Jennifer & Garret's wedding, there's lots more over onDK Photo blog - Daniel is brilliant at capturing atmosphere, friends and family enjoying the day, so if you're looking for a photographer to portray the love and happiness of your day in a sharp and beautiful way, then make sure to check out his website.
