Back when I began here at One Fab Day, there was an abundance of boho bridal designs and boho weddings on the scene. Over the years, the move has been towards beautiful barn weddings and more recently glamorous celebrations have started to take centre stage, but I'm a bit of a boho-fan at heart, so I'm delighted today to share this sensational boho wedding inspiration shoot by a bunch of very-talented French wedding creatives. From beginning to end this is the ultimate boho wedding dream. It's all about relaxed laidback style, a good dose of 70s era aesthetic and lots of natural textures and decor elements. Hope you enjoy this one as much as I did...
The main inspiration for this gorgeous shoot came from a love of the outdoors and all things earthy and natural. Vanessa from D’Amour et de Déco explains "Reego photography and I wanted an inspiration photo shoot with a wild atmosphere, not just pretty pictures but a story, a day...a wedding. We decided to recreate the wedding preparation, the bride's complicity with her bridesmaids, an intimate ceremony, a dinner under the stars and a dance floor around a fire." Sounds pretty perfect to me and we haven't even mentioned the wolves and owls yet..
The entire shoot was shot on location at Les Chevaux De Villeplaine which is home to the perfect mix of intimate cave like spaces and rustic land for a ethereal outdoor ceremony.
I told you it was about nature, so what could be more natural than the bride riding to and outdoor ceremony barefoot? At the crest of a hill, by the edge of the woods, her troop of achingly cool bridesmaids, groomsmen and groom await.
Aspirational for sure, but this ceremony space could be easily replicated in the right outdoor, or indeed indoor space. For a similar backdrop simply drape some vintage or boho material behind where you intend to say I do (ideally in between 2 strong trusses which will hold the backdrop for you). To complete the look keep your flowers rustic and earthy and other décor stripped back and minimal.
Incorporating some elements originally inspired by the American west, the styling team used calligraphy adorned cotton paper, a bridal feather headdress and boho crochet details. If you like this look but don't want to go OTT chose one element to add into your day, the crochet in particular would look beautiful in most weddings.
This leaf confetti is another wonderful idea, especially if you're having an outdoor ceremony. Leaf confetti can be bought or if you're collecting your own just be sure to select carefully and dry the leaves out in advance. Caomhan and Christine did this for their wedding in Canada in October. For some other fun confetti alternatives check out our 10 Fun and Unusual Confetti Alternatives.
Décor ideas aside my favourite part of this shoot is the exceptional style of the bridal party. For a total boho bride look the girls have used a mix of natural materials, feathers and loosely tousled hair left long and wild, with minimal fresh makeup. The bridesmaids keep it casual in mismatched white dresses and a one in a shorts & tee look.
The groom's look is pared back to just a crisp white shirt and rustic feather boutonnière. Boutonnières are a great little way to add a bit of personality to a look, subtly tying in with the bridesmaid and bride, and of crouse they don't always have to be flowers. Check out some of our alternative boutonnière and buttonhole ideas here.
After playing with the wolves in the serene French countryside the bride, groom and intimate bridal party regrouped for a laid back wedding buffet surrounded by DIY dream catcher cutlery holders, candles, pen tip illustrations and graphic calligraphy menus.
Don't you just adore this set up? The ultimate boho wedding inspiration for sure..
