Together since they started sharing posts to each other's Facebook profiles as teenagers Annie and Rob share that effortless love that many dream of. To celebrate this love Annie and Scott threw a picture perfect picnic wedding combining boho elements with more lush black-tie styling. Annie describes the vibe perfectly..."The overall look was simple with earthy tones and a touch of elegance. It was relaxed and fun. Perhaps bohemian chic is the word, but I would say it was just “us”." Photographers Heart and Colour captured the day and we're so thrilled to share it with you all today...
Beautiful bride Annie tells us how they met and fell in love as teenagers..."We met at the ripe ol’ age of 15. A couple of months later, after many late night conversations, Facebook wall posts and sneaking into the school library at lunch to hang out (my friends soon cottoned on that I wasn’t just being studious), we made things official."
Five years later Scott proposed, Annie remembers..."On our 5th anniversary, Scott took me to our favourite picnic spot on the Sunshine Coast. Before we headed out, he explained that what was wrapped in a towel and shoved in a plastic Coles bag was my anniversary present. An interesting choice of wrapping but not out of character! My suspicions of a proposal began but were soon ignored when Scott left the present bag in the car. I thought that if it really was a ring (in a plastic bag?!), he wouldn’t have forgotten about it! Alas...he did forget the ring (apparently he was that nervous) and after a run back to the car and a nice picnic, Scott proposed. A perfect, no makeup, no audience, whole-lot-of-love kind of proposal."
Echoing their picnic proposal Annie and Scott chose to celebrate with friends at a relaxed picnic in their friends' backyard. An idea that wasn't quite as straightforward as they originally thought..."The picnic actually ended up being harder to organise than the reception, but thank goodness for our mums who found numerous picnic baskets and Persian rugs and even made personalised cheese boards for us! And of course, we needed our dads to move all of that furniture into the great outdoors. Regardless of the amount of effort that it required, we loved celebrating our wedding day ‘picnic-style’."
To complement the boho aesthetic of the day Annie wore a dreamy boho wedding dress and veil from Australian designers Bo & Luca. Annie gushes..."Our flowers, cake, hair, makeup, styling, rings, printing, invites, music, our celebrant, ceremony venue, place cards and so much more was provided by people we knew and loved. And of course the team at Bo and Luca and Heart and Colour, who felt like long-lost friends by the end of it all. It was so special for our wedding to be personalised like it was. We feel so blessed to have so many wonderful and talented people in our lives."

After their glam picnic Annie, Scott and guests travelled to the nearby High Church, Brisbane where they wined and dined some more. Annie tells us..."We were able to have long tables, which meant that we could do ‘banquet’ style food like we wanted, and aesthetically it was simple and beautiful. A blank canvas – classic, without being too fancy for us. Plus they had multiple air conditioners!!"
Impressively all of the wedding flowers were put together by a friend of Annie's, including the lush bouquets and Scott's dainty boutonniere.
Annie offers some words of wisdom to those of you in the midst of wedding planning..."Decide on your priorities right from the start and when it comes to decisions, weigh up whether it really matters to you or not. There are so many questions and decisions to be made, but if you figure out what you are and are not willing to compromise, it will make it a whole lot easier. And just have fun! Plan the way you like to plan, style the way you like to style and enjoy it all."
For their honeymoon, these two beauties indulged in some luxury at the amazing Villas of Byron. Again, Annie recommends..."It was like being in Bali with the beauty of Australian beaches surrounding and without the airfare too, of course! Words can’t even describe how beautiful it was. We had such an incredible stay and dream of slipping away from reality and visiting again. It was the perfect way to unwind and enjoy each other’s company as husband and wife."
Huge congratulations to you both and thanks so much for sharing your gorgeous picnic wedding with us all. Such an inspiration! A big thank you also goes to Heart & Colour Photography for sharing their work with us. To see more Heart & Colour Photography visit www.heartandcolour.com
