Today’s bridal shoot, brought to you by Ladies & Lord, takes inspiration from the classic English punting tradition, which is so popular in Oxford, where our shoot is based. The Ladies & Lord team have put together an elegant ‘English Rose’ look based along the river Cherwell utilising quintessentially Oxford elements and a fresh pink and blue palette. As the team grew up in the area this shoot has an extra personal feel with lots of romantic details and oodles of elegant floral inspiration...
The Oxford location was the prime inspiration for this shoot, and once it was chosen the inclusion of a punting boat quickly became an essential element. Ladies & Lord explain the concept behind it all.."It was a lovely autumn afternoon and our bride was thrilled to put back on her wedding dress and be the princess for one more day. A bridal photo shoot is perfect for that so we planned a very English kind of shoot. For what could be more English than punting in Oxford?"
If, like me, your not quite familiar with punting, a punt is a traditional English flat-bottomed boat with a square-cut bow, designed for use in smaller rivers. Pay a trip to Oxford and you'll see these pretty boats drifting along the river, especially the river Cherwell where today's pretty bridal shoot is based.
To add femininity to the boating theme lots of dainty ribbon, Liberty print cases and floral china were used. If you love this look these items can often be found in a high street charity store or flea market. Flowers were also a dominant feature with lots of romantic bud vases and a full Rose bouquet. Similar bud vases would make quaint table centres at a wedding or chic hen party, especially when grouped together.
The flowers used are a romantic mix of various Rose varieties, Scabious, Delphiniums, Lisianthus, Poppy Heads and vibrant pink Hydrangeas. Though these are somewhat traditional flowers (especially for those in UK and Ireland) the arrangements have been given a contemporary feel by using strong colours with a relaxed styling.
The rest of the look stays both classical and elegant with a strapless La Sposa Pronovias and a loose plait hairstyle. You can find more plait wedding hair ideas in our Plait and Braid Hairstyles for your Wedding Day.
