From the get-go, this sweet couple threw the rule book out the window and set about throwing a flipping great party to celebrate their love! With London as their backdrop, they created an intimate, love filled day with just the right amount of eclectic details. They exchanged vows in the oldest catholic church in England and partied the night away in an old furniture warehouse filled to the brim with candles and fairy lights. Throw in a boozy bus journey, amazing food, a tailor made whiskey bar and it's safe to say they achieved their wedding goals! Dasha Caffrey was on hand to capture each blissful moment throughout the day...
Not all little girls spend hours daydreaming about growing up and getting married and this was certainly the case for our beautiful bride. One thing she knew for sure was that she wouldn't be having the full bridal meringue ensemble. That all changed once she tried on a dress in the first boutique she visited... "I accidentally fell in love with the delicate lace and soft blush underlay of Naomi Neoh’s Fleur dress. I tried it on in the first shop I went to, and then spent the next few months dragging my nearest and dearest (dad included) to every bridal shop in London and Cambridge to confirm I really wanted a princess dress. Turns out I did.”
Winter flowers are fast becoming my favourite and these beautiful bouquets are no exception. “Our florist, Juliet, had a “perfect flower” for everything we mentioned. With the vague instructions of “nothing too neat” and “please can we have black, white and something to match the hint of blush in the bride's dress in the bouquet” she produced beautiful bouquets, table flowers, urns and a trailing mantle garland, with Mona Lisa White Anemones and White O’Hara Roses - the perfect match for our vague requests.”
The moments before you walk up the aisle when it's just you and your best friends in the world, all bubbling with excitement for you are so special! Take a minute and enjoy them before you walk up the aisle.
The ceremony was held in St Etheldreda, the oldest Catholic Church in England. The couple knew it was "the one" when they saw the jaw-dropping stained glass window. Aside from its pure beauty, the Church is very close to where they first met and where the bride lived for many years so it has sentimental value too.
No wonder they loved this church so much! The windows are spectacular!
The contrast between the bride and her besties beautiful dresses is so striking! The perfect colour palette for a winter wedding!
I'm so glad this dress was 'the one' for the bride! It's so classically beautifully and timeless!
After the ceremony, it was a quick spin on a traditional red bus for all the guests to the next location. And of course the bridal party made sure the fizz was flowing the whole way!
Hoping to avoid the standard hotel style wedding, the couple set about finding the perfect spot to wine and dine their friends and family. When they came across Brixton East, an old furniture warehouse, it was a done deal. "We instantly fell in love with the original wooden floor, exposed brickwork, large windows, roof terrace, exposed beams, original clock and Andy (the owner, who, as it turned out is the perfect combination of relaxed, funny and pragmatic). We knew with the right lighting we could create the cosy candlelit atmosphere we were after during the day, and a party in the evening."
Because of the beauty of both venues, the couple decided to keep decorations to a minimum. They focused on flowers, candles and fairy lights which gave off a warm and cosy glow. The perfect atmosphere to enjoy and incredible dinner of sharing platters, slow cooked lamb and traditional bread and butter pudding! Sounds delicious!
What do you do when your and your new husband love whiskey? You create a tailor made whiskey bar of course! The bride and groom organized a selection of whiskey's and left it open for guests to help themselves. What a great idea! The bride tells us how it went down with guests..."We’ve since learned that the help yourself approach accounted for many sore heads the next day as people spent the evening comparing different bottles and tasting notes. We only had a tiny bit of the mackerel flavoured one (yes, mackerel - weird that no one fancied it) left at the end of the evening."
For a camera shy couple, finding the right photographer was very important. The bride tells us why Dasha Caffrey was the perfect choice for them…“We’re both quite camera-awkward, but when we had a practice run (some people might call it an engagement shoot, not us) with her we knew she’d be great at making us feel at ease in front of the camera on the day.”
What advice do this lovely couple have to share with anyone in the depths of planning? "It was all over too soon! There really is nothing quite like being surrounded by everyone you care about, throwing shapes to your favourite music, and having a glass of fizz in your hand at all times. If I could change one thing, I would have thought ahead to 3am when I had finally decided I was hungry and had to resort to eating our wedding favours on mass before bed." If that's the only complaint, it's safe to say this wedding was a massive success!
Congratulations to you both and thank you so much for sharing your stunning celebration of love with us all. A big thank you also goes to Dasha Caffrey for sharing her work with us. To see more from Dasha Caffrey visit www.dashacaffrey.com.
