This morning it's a delight to feature the real wedding of Teresa and Ross at Bellinter House by Fionn McCann of Studio 33. Theirs was a Summer wedding infused with lots of laughter - they're clearly a couple madly in love with each other and ready to enjoy every minute of their wedding day. Making their vows outdoors in the grounds of the Palladian mansion, and then continuing the party throughout the house and grounds, this is a wedding that blends old and new, modern and classic in a celebration of a great love...
We met in Leggs on Lesson St and shared a taxi together, where we exchanged only numbers. I was heading off for a year of travelling 6 weeks later, so it started as a little fling before I went! However after a whirlwind romance that took us to Paris and back, we were devastated to be splitting up. We stayed in touch on Skype and 3 months later Ross handed in his notice and was on a plane to New Zealand. We travelled and worked in Australia for another 2 years before the call of home brought us back.
Ross clearly created a vision in his head of the perfect proposal, but like many men, forgot about a crucial element in the plan, in his case the weather, bless... Ross brought me to Powerscourt Gardens, where we had gone for a walk on one of our first dates. He sat me down on a bench beside a little lake and got down on one knee. It was winter and I was wearing mittens so he had a hard time getting the ring on my finger!
The wedding took place in Bellinter House, a beautiful country house hotel just outside Navan.
We wanted to stay close to Dublin and after searching online found a few suggestions on One Fab Day. As soon as we got to Bellinter House, we knew it was for us! It is such a beautiful house with a quirky interior. One of our favourite things to do is eat out, so once we tasted the food, we were sold! Also we wanted the wedding to feel like a house party so the exclusivity that Bellinter offers was exactly what we were looking for. Once the dress and venue were picked, the theme created itself!
Gotta love an outdoor ceremony...
Our wedding look was a modern twist on a 1940s theme, with my old Hollywood style dress and Ross’ skinny fit tuxedo! My grandparents got married on the same day 61 years ago, so we wanted to have a picture of their wedding up in the house. This idea expanded, and we ended up having old wedding pictures of all of our married guests. They ranged from the 1940s up to recent weddings and were all over the house.
Walking down the front steps of Bellinter House to get married was my favourite part of the whole day. It meant everything to me to have the ceremony outdoors and we were so lucky that the rain held off! Lorraine at Bellinter House was so accommodating; it made it all the more relaxed.
For those of you unfamiliar with this sight - Teresa and Ross had a sand ceremony. It's a more practical option than candles for an outdoor ceremony as the old breeze does tend to blow out the candles, kinda ruining the symbolism!
And then, with all the hard work done, it was time to relax with a well-earned pint...
Bellinter House boasts beautiful gardens and a very famous Beech tree which forms the logo for the property. Perfect for a quick wander round for
Theresa was really lucky to have a creative brother to rope in to make those little additional touches which add so much... My brother created a mock save-the-date website, which we emailed to all the guests, as we got married on the August Bank Holiday and wanted to give everyone plenty of notice. It mainly consisted of ridiculous pictures of us from Facebook themed to Bruno Mars “Marry You”. He also designed our love story invitation, which was a fold out story of how we met and events leading up to our wedding day.
Told you these two were a pair of Lovebirds!
What advice would you give to brides and grooms planning their day? "Just enjoy every bit of it. The build up to the day is brilliant, you get to spend loads of time with friends and family and the day itself is the best party you will ever be at. And don’t sweat the small stuff because you really won’t notice the colour scheme or seating chart on the day, you will be too busy enjoying yourself!"
Congratulations Teresa & Ross, it looks like you had a super duper day, so hope married life is treating you both well.
And of course big thanks to Fionn McCann of Studio33 Weddings for sharing his lovely work on their day with us all. www.studio33weddings.com
