Good Morning All! If you're in need of a pick-me-up this morning (back to school, traffic dreadful, Summer over and all that...) we have just the real wedding to warm your heart. Lovebirds Sarah and Rory met the old reliable Irish way - in a bar. Although it was originally a random meeting, Sarah being Australian and Rory Irish these two were obviously meant to be. After a simple and sweet proposal, Sarah brought her nearest and dearest over from down under to celebrate in Bellinter House showing them the best of Irish country house hospitality with a little dash of cottage chic. Leanne Keaney captured all the lovely moments of today's super sweet love story...
So a random meeting in (my favourite bar) Hogans brought Sarah and Rory together. With Sarah being an Aussie and Rory an Irish lad some might call it fate...We met in Hogan’s pub, I was taken by Sarah’s silver sparkly tights. Sarah is an Aussie but it turns out her Mum is from York in England where I lived for 5 years. I have a house in York on Poppleton Road and Sarah’s Mum is from Poppleton village so I guess it must be fate. Although I must admit I never met a girl as nice as Sarah when I was living in Australia for 3 years or in York for 5. Aw so sweet!
Sarah's fabulous wedding dress was made by Rory's Mum, what a wedding present (and welcome to the family!) and what a talent!
Talented seamstress' must run in the family as Rory's sister made the flowergirl dresses - lucky girls!
Like many men, Rory struggled with popping the question, meaning to ask Sarah to marry him for sometime, getting worked up with elaborate ideas and plans that seemed to fall through. In the end a simple proposal was just the ticket... "One Saturday morning, returning from a morning run, I was locked out of the apartment so I had a two hour breakfast in Kilkenny Design where I decided to just do it, ask Sarah to marry me. So I went home and fumbled my way to the proposal on the couch. I will save myself the blushes of the actual wording!" We'll let Rory off the hook there, but according to Sarah it was a very sweet proposal over a cup of Barry's tea -perfect!
Sarah and Rory put lots of time into their ceremony, getting married outside (in Ireland) must have been amazing and worth all the effort in the end... "The ceremony was actually the highlight. We had put a lot of thought into it, the songs, the readings, the readers, the celebrant and the outdoor setting. Rory wanted to get married outside under a tree. Our plan to do that was looking very unrealistic when we had the coldest March and April on record and then it rained for 2 days before the wedding. But on the day, the sun shone and a drying wind dried the grass out and so at the last minute we moved the chairs, the rugs, the flowers, the band and all the people out into the glorious spring sunshine.
When it came to the venue Bellinter was the one from the get go. Sarah and Rory loved the tree where they had their ceremony plus the combination of history and contemporary style was just the right vibe for the day!
With Sarah being a native Australian lots of the guest had travelled over for the wedding, so Sarah and Rory wanted them to feel as welcome as possible making sure to create a homely feel with plenty of Irishness in between!
The vibe of Sarah and Rory's day was very personal, relaxed and really good fun. The lovebirds wanted great music and great dancing with lots of fabulous friends and family. They gave their guests a dress code of 'vintage chic' to include all their guests in the fun and general feel of the day, and I think the guest pulled it off!
The beautiful wild flowers compliment the vintage feel of the day and I love the little birdie place cards!
With such a seamless day, what advice can you give to brides and grooms to be? Don’t feel like you are required to do anything in particular, we ditched a lot of the conventions. Also – on the day, don’t sweat the small stuff.
A huge Congratulations to Sarah and Rory on their beautiful wedding, and of course a big Thank You goes to Leanne Keaney for sharing her work with us at One Fab Day! To see more of Leanne Keaney's work pop on over to www.leannekeaney.com
