A Make and Do Fiesta - something we've never described a wedding as before, but hey, Jamie and Rosie's DIY wedding is not your run of the mill celebration.  The venue was Belfast Castle, the style - autumnal chic, the collection of elements they made - extensive, and the craic - mighty. All the fun was caught on camera by Campbell Photography.

Refreshingly Jamie and Rosie aren't one of those 'love at first sight' couples, they were more oil and water at first, but once sparks flew they knew it was the real deal "We met at college on a creative writing course. Jamie didn’t like me to begin with, he thought I was a show-off and I thought he was too quiet and weird. Eventually I needed help moving house and Jamie helped and he moved in a few weeks later."

Moving house is a bit of theme in this relationship "Jamie proposed the day we got the keys to our new house in the empty living room with the gas fire sputtering in the background."

Jamie and Rosie got married in St Therese of Lisieux Church, loving their Sound of Music style entourage of flowergirls and pageboys. Super cute.

And after the vows it was time to celebrate...

Mum's the word for Rosie - having a creative mother like Anne, came in very handy "My mum made the bridesmaid dresses from a vintage pattern and curtain fabric, for months before the wedding she sewed into the night and fitted all the bridesmaid dresses to fit them exactly. She put so much tireless work into them.

Belfast Castle is a stunning location for a reception and Jamie and Rosie made sure to make it work for their big day...My sister and I were on a drive looking at possible locations and called up the castle for a laugh as there was no way the wedding was going to be that fancy with our budget. I just fell in love with it right away and the budget was shifted around so that we could make it work. I had to do a lot of stuff myself but the venue was what made the day.

Campbell Photography captured some gorgeous intimate photographs of the couple and some fun with the bridal party!

The theme was a combination of make-do-and-mend and autumn. I have a huge family so it needed to be a big wedding but we didn’t want to waste years and years saving every penny to throw a party, so we pulled in favours from everyone around us. I spent every evening making things for the wedding, trees for table decorations, coffee filter roses for the church, bridesmaid and bride bouquets, and painting the invitations. Periodically, the house was covered in twigs and brooches and little paper leaves that we are still finding everywhere.

My sister, Sharon, the chief bridesmaid, makes wedding cakes and I requested she make me most over the top fantastic cake she had ever made - I’m her sister, it had to be special! And it really was, I wanted mismatched layers and she went as far as to hand paint one of the layers and make individual edible autumn leaves.

What advice would you give to brides and grooms planning their day? "Bring flat shoes! And pick a time when you are going to stop being the bride and groom and start being just two people having fun at a wedding. We had a lovely day but at 10pm we just let loose and savoured the drinking and dancing.

Congratulations to Jamie and Rosie on their wedding - hope you are enjoying married life guys! Thank you too of course, to Campbell Photography for sharing their work with us, to see more of their work pop over to www.campbellphotography.co.uk.
