Goodbye cold Winter weather - Hello sunshine! Today we're off the sunny South Africa to celebrate Thomas and Dag's wedding. These two stylish sweeties tied the knot, barefoot on the beach, under a beautiful handmade pergola. DNA Photographers captured all the happy, sun-filled moments, complete with portraits against bright blue skies, a little pool toe-dipping, and even a costume change at the end of the reception! Let's dip our toes into this gorgeous wedding...
Dag hails from Germany, and Thomas from Vienna and they live together in Berlin. Dag had been to South Africa before and thought it would be the perfect location for their wedding. So Thomas organised the whole thing by the power of the internet all the way from Berlin!
The couple had friends and family, mostly from Germany and Austria, arrive a few days before the wedding, so the couple had plenty of time to show them th sites around Cape Town and the Winelands before the big day.
The ceremony decor couldn't have been simpler - bamboo and a little greenery create the perfect mini pergola for getting married under!
The photos capitalize beautifully on South Africa's beaming sunshine. The grooms were able to roll up their pants and take off their shoes before saying ' I do'.
For the ceremony, they included a string and ring ceremony, where everyone was able to touch the rings the couple wer about to give to each other. Dorothy, a Cape Town singer, serenaded the whole wedding with a few beautiful songs.
Dag and Thomas chose to have a gay activist give a speech. There were emotional reminders that in many places around the world, Dag and Thomas wouldn't have been able to get married at all.
Post ceremony, the two spent some time with photographers Desmond and Antonia, taking full advantage of the beautiful beach backdrop. Dunes, rocks, and blue, blue sky. We're betting Dag and Thomas will be gazing at these photos all Winter long, being reminded of the hot sun on their special day!
Dag and Thomas chose outfits that complimented each other perfectly - and we love the way they each accessorised with a different sweet pattern - We love that polka dot bow tie!
We're loving the action shots of the happy couple careening around the sandy beach! They probably still have sand between their toes!
The reception was held at Crofter's Villa, an incredible seaside estate complete with a pool! Guests enjoyed cocktails, dancing and chats around the pool, and some even took the couple's lead and dipped their toes in to cool down. For wedding favours, Dag and Thomas opted to keep a South African theme with safari-looking gift bags filled with quintessentially South African treats like Rooibos tea and Billtong. A little something to remember their wonderful day!
