Thursday dawns bright and breezy and in preparation for the fun of the weekend, we're bringing you not one, but two fantastic weddings today. Each quite different but equally beautiful. Prepare to swoon ladies!
First up we have the lovely Judith and Stevie, who celebrated in our of our new favourite venues - Ballydugan Mill. Having a love of all things vintage and shabby chic, the venue was perfect for their style so they were able to indulge their creativity and conjure up a beautiful celebration worthy of their love, and it was all captured by Gillian Higgins.
Now you know we usually ask our couples a number of questions to give us the inside track on how their wedding came together, well, today is a real treat, as it's Stevie, the Groom who filled us in on everything. Usually it's the bride's perspective we hear, so it's lovely to get the male viewpoint on proceedings.
So first of all, how did you two meet? "We met at church... I stalked Judith for a while as I thought she was out of my league. I offered sweets, cracked jokes and when that failed, I threw in a promise to take her to Disneyland. For our honeymoon I had the privilege of fulfilling that promise and took her to the magic kingdom in Florida."
A little bit of bribery goes a long way Stevie! But he didn't need to resort to "added extras", "I proposed to Judith on a beach on Donegal, in Red Castle. I waited until Judith was looking out at the water then I got down on one knee. By the the time Judith turned round I was half offering her the proposal and half falling on my head... those pebbles don't make it easy for a man on one knee, haha."
Ah the last minute merchant - every wedding has one of those, preparing their notes just beforehand. Stevie was clearly no exception!
For the flowers Judith chose gypsophilia for her own bouquet and pretty bunches of camomile for her bridesmaids, word to the wise brides, these are really cost-effective options and as you can see, are just as striking as more elaborate arrangements.
The ceremony itself took place in nearby Banbridge.
Judith's favourite moment was when she looked into my eyes, haha, only joking. My favourite moment was watching my beautiful bride walk down the aisle to me. Judith did not have a particular favourite moment as she enjoyed the entire day equally.
Picture perfect!
Nom, nom, nom, nom, nom... you get the picture...
Now wait til you see these tables (I have a real thing for beautiful tablescapes, am I alone??)
We have been into the old vintage look for a long time now so when we got engaged we started searching thru old second hand stores and charity shops to get all the wee props we wanted for the wedding day.
What advice would you give to brides and grooms planning their day? "Try to enjoy the build up and preparations and do it the way you want not anybody else. Don't stress about anything because no matter what happens it will be the best day of your lives."
Wise words Stevie! Completely agree with you. Huge thanks to both you and Judith for sharing your day with us, it's really inspiring and beautiful.
And of course, a big Thank You must go to Gillian Higgins, it's a pleasure to share her work, and if you like what you see then you'll love www.gillianhigginsphotography.com
