Today's real wedding has us hankering for that crisp autumn chill in the air. Elly and Colm wanted a fuss-free, relaxed wedding day, as you'll see from their beautiful photos by Mr Jack Photography, that's just what they achieved with their rustic autumnal wedding. Murphy's Barn in Wexford was the perfect backdrop for their day, looking after every last detail so the gorgeous bride and dashing groom could chill out and have fun with their family and friends. Judging by the massive smiles on their faces, they got their dream day!
There’s nothing like a bit of old fashioned match making, but that’s not quite how Colm and Elly first got together, “Our mutual friend, Stacey, had been desperate to set Colm up with any of her friends, but never thought of setting him up with me,” explains Elly. “She had always spoken about Colm, but we had never met as he had been travelling abroad for years. He came home in 2014, and we met at Stacey’s birthday party. We laughed together the whole night, and we have laughed together everyday since!”
We love Colm’s sweet proposal (although we kind of wish there had been an alpaca involved!) “Colm collected me from work at 10pm after a 13 hour shift. It was his birthday in a few days time, and when we got home he told me he had bought himself some birthday presents,” explains Elly. “He is quite bad with money, so I was expecting to find an Alpaca in the back garden! But instead he got down on one knee and told him that his gift was me!”
The couple created a beautiful, yet simple autumn wedding, “It was very relaxed and laid back. There was no frills, we just wanted a nice day with our closest family and friends.”
The couple chose sand pouring as a unifying ritual during their ceremony.
The bride and groom tell us they were instantly enamoured with Murphy’s Barn, "The barn was so beautiful, and having different rooms in it meant that we could have the whole day there. The gorgeous surroundings also meant that we didn’t have to go anywhere to get our photos taken. We absolutely fell in love with it when we saw it - we would live there if we could!”
These two advise other couples to relax and enjoy the day! “Nobody who really matters to you will care about small details like seat covers, or matching themes. Don’t worry about the small things, it will all fall into place.”
Sinead, the owner of the barn did such a beautiful job decorating the venue for the couple, “She had an idea of our personalities and what we wanted, and we trusted her completely. This allowed us to sit back and enjoy the day with our loved ones. Family and friends travelled from all over the world to celebrate with us, which really meant so much to us.”
The dried leaves and rustic details dotted around the venue make it so cosy and romantic.
Elly and Colm tell us they were eager to keep costs down, “We knew we didn’t want to stress about little details, we just wanted to enjoy the experience.”
The couple had a fun Irish staycation for their honeymoon, "We did the warden experience in Fota Wildlife Park. I absolutely love animals, so I was in heaven when we got to hand feed the rhinos, giraffes, monkeys and penguins!”
Thanks so much to Elly and Colm for letting us in on your wedding day, and to Mr Jack Photography for capturing it so beautifully - see more details in the gallery below!
