Fans of rustic, boho weddings in the countryside are going to be more than a little smitten with today's real wedding. Australian high school sweethearts, Cassie and Lockie tied the knot with an intimate wedding at Inglewood Estate, a picturesque setting not far from Melbourne. With some serious autumnal vibes and lots of colour, they day was brimming with gorgeous florals, cool contemporary style, sweet personal touches and lots of smiles. And as you'll see, the talented Emma Wise Photography was on hand to capture it all, beautifully.
Cassie & Lockie's love story goes all the way to when they were teenagers, “We quickly became high school sweethearts by age 15 in 2003. As all good high school love stories begin, our wonderful best man Scotty knew that we were both keen on each other and gave us both a little push in the right direction. A series of parties and a first date to see Shrek 2 at the cinemas and the love story had truly begun."
We don't know how Cassie did this, but it makes for one incredible shot!
The couple say they had no idea back in school that they'd actually go the distance, but even then, their bond was strong, “As cliché’ as this might sound, we fell in love with each other even though we were both awkward, pimple-faced teenagers with no idea of the journey we would take together. Fast forward to 2017 and we are now happily married and more in love than ever before.”
Such beautiful autumnal hues with mixed protea and other native Australian flowers.
Cassie describes the proposal as 'romantically awkward. "We had gone away for our ten year anniversary to a beautiful cabin in Halls Gap, Victoria. We had already exchanged gifts and were relaxing by the fire. I asked to borrow Lockie’s phone charger and he jumped up quickly to get it before I could get it first. I am terrible with surprises so naturally I snuck a peek inside his bag and a small box was found." I've been there - the excitement!
The layering of linen and tweed looks great on Lockie and goes perfectly with the countryside setting.
In spite of knowing what she'd found, Cassie fought the temptation to open the box. "Lockie knew very well what I had done because I am also a terrible liar. He ran upstairs, collected the ring and got down on one knee by the fire place. We had planned a hike the next day and the proposal was supposed to take place at the Pinnacle lookout. Regardless, it was beautiful, spontaneous and very true to our style.” Now that sounds pretty perfect!
The couple describe the look of their day as colourful and rustic, “The vibe was relaxed, charming and very true to our style. We were surrounded by a group of our closest family and friends who made the day so much fun! We laughed and talked our way through the ceremony and danced, ate and drank our way into the night.”
Cassie & Lockie say they knew they wanted a small wedding from the beginning, “We wanted to be able to talk with all our guests and enjoy the night together instead of moving from table to table all night long. We really loved the idea of having the bridesmaids in all different styles and coloured dresses and the groomsmen with a rustic mixture of textures. It came together beautifully and with the addition of native Aussie flowers for the bouquets and lapels, it looked better than we ever expected.”
Despite the different colours and styles, each of the bridemaids' dresses featured laser-cut lace detail that tied them all together beautifully.
How pretty are these floral dresses for the girls!
I need to find Cassie's bold perfect-for-autumn lipstick (and her nail polish to match!).
Here comes your girl!
There were lots of personal touches throughout the couple's day, "Having Lockie’s dad, Mike, as our celebrant was really special for us. The speeches were outstanding! The whole wedding was just perfect", Cassie gushes.
From the outfits to the flowers to the venue, every detail of this wedding worked beautifully together.
I love the caped effect on Cassie's gorgeous Grace Loves Lace wedding dress.
The couple had visited a several venues before they found 'the one', "They were beautiful, but we liked the idea of having the venue all to ourselves for the day and night. Then we visited Inglewood Estate. We drove down the long dirt road, saw the twinkling fairy lights peeking through the windows and the enchanting lakeside, vine-covered chapel and we were sold! The venue was outstanding and the staff were attentive and knew how to create a personalised, memorable wedding.”
Now that's what we call a real party house!
Using old amber bottles is a cute and inexpensive way to add a decorative touch to your tables.
The floral decor gives this simple wedding cake a luxe polish.
How beautiful is the Australian countryside?!
Cassie & Lockie's advice for other couples? "Bigger is not always better. Sticking to a budget is hard, so it is better to overestimate costs so you have more money for the honeymoon! Sneak off for special moments with your new husband or wife throughout the day or night! It goes SO quickly and you want those times to pause, take a breath and just soak everything in!” Sound advice guys!
Huge thanks to Emma Wise Photography for sending this beautiful Aussie wedding our way. Congratulations to Cassie and Lockie, we wish you all the love and happiness for the future!
