If the wild Irish landscape plays a major role in your dream wedding, you're going to love the styled shoot we're sharing today, which was shot on the rugged coast of Valentia Island. Such a dramatic landscape demands some pretty epic alternative wedding dresses, and the gowns in this shoot just ooze edgy, effortless glamour. Photographer Louise Scott recruited a team of seasoned pros to help her put the whole thing together, including some generous, romantic florals that we know you're going to want to replicate for your big day. So let's take a closer look, shall we?
Louise tell us that the concept for this shoot came from the W.B. Yeats poem A Crazed Girl, particularly the line, “A beautiful lofty thing, or a thing Heroically lost, heroically found”. She quickly set about choosing three gowns that would echo this carefree, wild spirit, all of which were sourced from Frilly Frocks.
For the flowers, the team at Strandfield created lush, oversized bouquets in a subtle palette of greens and whites. "The flowers incorporated traditional ferns and roses, as well as the more modern addition of Eucalyptus," Louise explains.
Makeup artist Georgina MacKessy and hairstylist Tricia O’Sullivan each created pared-back, natural looks to play down the drama of the showstopping gowns. We think the effect is just gorgeous!
Is #capegoals a thing? It is now! This showstopper of a bridal look comprises a beaded gown and cape, both by Eliza Jane Howell.
Louise and the team chose three gowns that were classic in style but had enough wow factor to contrast with the craggy backdrop, topping each one with a flamboyant cape. The mesh panel on this Mikaella gown is so delicate and pretty!
Louise tells us that she wanted all three alternative wedding dresses to echo "old-world glamour, but with a contemporary feel." This feather shrug by Sasso really ups the wow factor!
For their third look, the team headed indoors to one of the grand reception rooms at The Royal Hotel Valentia, which overlooks the harbour,
This intricately-beaded gown by Eliza Jane Howell looks like a vintage 1930s find, with the plunging back giving it a 2018 twist!
You just can't beat a subtle flash of sparkle! Thanks so much to Louise Scott and the rest of the team for sharing these absolutely beautiful images with us.
