Deborah and Jason met whilst studying architecture, and through the years fell deeper in love with both each other and their passion for all things architecturally beautiful. So, for their wedding it was no surprise they chose the epic Ulster Museum to tie the knot in, and celebrate their love with just 21 guests. To add an extra dose of beauty and romance Deborah and Jason also paid a visit to the hauntingly beautiful Drawing Offices of the Titanic, captured wonderfully by Honey And The Moon.
Deborah and Jason met at University whilst studying for their Masters. As Deborah explains..."When you spend that amount of time in close proximity with someone and very little sleep for two years at the mercy of a Master of Architecture…your kind of stuck with each other!!"
Rather fond of being "stuck together" Jason decided to propose whilst on a last minute holiday in sunny Malta. Deborah describes the day..."We were on a trip to Medina, an amazing medieval town (architecture geeks.) I had no idea. Jason was acting like a complete weirdo…this is normal sometimes so I ran with it! He kept getting me to pose for photos in front of things crouching down to take the picture. (I was like…what is he doing…has he gone mad!!) He kept having to back out as people walked past or he didn't like the place. Finally on the way out of the walled town crossing the little bridge he got down on one knee and opened the ring box upside down - and was a complete nervous wreck. It was so funny. The first thing out of my mouth was ‘do my parents know’ as I knew no one at home could have held their water on this!! I then remembered to say YES and then, he was able to stand up!"
For their wedding Deborah and Jason simply wanted to "get married, have a lovely meal and a MASSIVE party," and that's exactly what they did in the beautiful Ulster Museum. Sounds pretty perfect to us.
The simple ceremony was held in the Belfast Room with 21 of their very closest friends and immediate family.
The elegant room was decorated with colourful flowers put together by Deborah and her mum and gently glowing marquee letters.
After their I dos Deborah and Jason hopped in their rented VW Campervan and headed to the Titanic Quarter for their portraits, even managing to get access to the stunning derelict Drawing Offices where the Titanic was designed.
Both self-confessed architecture nerds this setting, chosen by photographers Honey And The Moon, was picture perfect for Deborah and Jason.
To compliment the alternative nature of their wedding day Deborah designed her own strapless wedding dress in shades of grey with large bow detail, which was then brought to life by Irish designer Alison Slaney Bridal. Deborah then paired her dress with some cute Vivienne Westwood love heart shoes, which peeped out from under her dress perfectly.
After their portraits Deborah and Jason walked back to the Ulster Museum where they enjoyed their meal and speeches in the Ground Floor Foyer. Deborah describes the atmosphere..."One of the highlights had to be the meal and speeches. We were all in such an intimate setting round one table. It meant we all got to chat and were able to see each other. It was perfect!"
For their honeymoon Deborah and Jason spent 3 weeks travelling around Italy, starting in Pisa then visiting Lucca, Florence, Rome, Naples, Sorrento and Sicily. Huge congratulations to you both and thanks so much for sharing your beautiful wedding day with us all.
A big thank you also goes to the lovely Honey And The Moon for sharing their work with us. As Jason and Deborah gush: "our photographers were amazing and researched the perfect locations for photographs to suit us. They had really put thought into it after our meeting."
