When Anna fell in love with The Chocolate Factory venue her family, friends and even partner Dermot took some convincing. Luckily they came around to the idea and Anna and Dermot had the exact party wedding they've always wanted. Lucy Nuzum was on hand to capture every detail, giggle and boozy dance move and we're thrilled to share it with you today.
Anna and Dermot met in their first year in college. Anna states..."We have been together ever since."
After dating for years Dermot surprised Anna by proposing in the Botanic Gardens. Anna remembers..."It was a complete surprise even though we’d been together for years. We went for a pint in the Gravediggers pub after to celebrate."
From the offset Anna and Dermot knew they didn't want a traditional wedding. They simply wanted "an amazing party" and that's exactly what they got.
The industrial Chocolate Factory was the ceremony and party venue, a choice that immediately made sense to Anna but took others some convincing.
Anna explains..."I absolutely loved the space from the start, both the downstairs Blás Café where the dinner was held and the first floor room, where the ceremony and party was, were ideal. They are bright, light filled airy rooms, with beautiful stripped back furniture, the perfect backdrop for a wedding. The light in the building is so beautiful throughout and I had a vision for the décor from the start. Dermot took a bit more convincing. As did our families. Everyone loved it in the end though. Even the aunties and uncles from Mayo who thought they were coming in the fire exit entering the building!"
The ceremony upstairs was decorated with a DIY paper cone installation, a greenery backdrop by Anna's mum and lots of flowers by The Informal Florist. Adding extra sentiment were Anna and Dermot's friends who provided all of the music. Anna gushes..."One of the most special things to us on the day was the ceremony music performed by some of our close friends and family. We could not be luckier with the bunch of friends we have, all are unbelievable musicians who can play or sing anything. I gave them a bit of a challenge with some of the songs I chose, like Nina Simone favourites, as they usually play traditional music, but they managed it beautifully. They made the ceremony so fun and they didn’t stop singing and playing well into the wee hours of the second day, which we had in Keoghs pub on South Anne St."
After the ceremony everyone retreated downstairs for a feast of slow cooked Morroccan lamb with lots of fresh summer salads and ample French wine.
Once everyone had indulged they were then further treated to The Gramophone Disco, which resulted in lots of dancing under the atmospheric festoon lighting.
Huge congratulations to you both and thanks so much for sharing your fabulous and fun wedding day with us all. A big thank you also goes to Lucy Nuzum for sharing her work with us. To see more from Lucy Nuzum visit www.lucynuzumweddings.com
