There is nothing more we love than a new wedding trend. But, today's real wedding proves that timeless, less-is-more and classic elegance really never gets old! White roses, tuxedos and plentiful candlelight are the foundation for this summer soiree, as black-tie magic is mixed magnificently with on-trend earthy green tones, gold accents and sublime style! Aimee and Kevin, our gorgeous newlyweds, tied the knot in The Abbey, a newly transformed exclusive-use wedding venue in the heart of Kildare. We are treated to a glamorous bride tribe, a magical venue setting and shoes from on of our favourite bridal shoe designers! Jasna Pasalic captured the gorgeous images below, so let's get stuck in!
Aimee and Kevin, met through a dating app, and after a successful first date in London became inseparable. As time passed, their relationship grew stronger, leading to a fateful long weekend trip to Cornwall. "It was our first trip away after many missed holidays. Kevin had booked an amazing hotel on the beach, so we set off for a walk one afternoon along the cliff edge. Kevin was acting very strange on the way back, he kept walking far too close to the edge. He then stopped and asked me to look over onto the beach below. When I looked, he had organised a sand artist to write, 'Aimee will you marry me' in the sand, with a picture of our dog Sally’s face in the middle. It took me a few moments to realise what was happening! I looked back at Kevin and he was down on one knee. It was incredible!" she says.
Oh, a tuxedo means one thing - we are in for a black tie wedding treat! Aimee and Kevin always envisioned a classic, timeless, black-tie wedding. So far, the gentleman are ticking all the right boxes with their elegant tuxedo suits. Kevin, who is originally from Ireland lives in the UK with Aimee. "We had travelled over from the UK many times to look at venues in Ireland and it was getting fairly stressful as so many of them were booked up due to Covid and we hadn’t found somewhere that felt right," he said. "We then came across The Abbey online and went to visit. It was in the middle of being refurbished, and to be honest, it was a bit of a building site at the time! However, as soon as we looked around, we knew it was ‘the one’. We'll come back to the dreamy exclusive wedding venue in a moment, but firstly, the bride!
Loeffler Randall shoes - we see you! One of our favourite bridal shoe brands and Aimee went for the gorgeous Dahlia style with a sweet ankle strap.
Absolutely breathtaking! Aimee was radiant in a magnificent Savannah Miller wedding gown. The mermaid fit with subtle lace trim at her waist is classic and very chic. Aimee finished her look with a pair of statement gold pearl drop earrings and a sublime veil. Her complexion was flawless, her up-style perfection and her smile, well her smile speaks a thousand words!
The ceremony took place in The Abbey, along with the reception too. The 18th-century chapel was transformed with candles, white hydrangea, cherry blossom trees and a gorgeous rustic moongate. A romantic, moody and yet cosy ambience sets the tone for the guests on arrival. The ceremony booklets had the black-tie wedding touch with their minimal and classic monochrome aesthetic. The floral ceremony arrangement remained neutral with overflowing greenery and white flowers that also graced the moongate backdrop. "We loved the stylish décor, the chapel is beautiful and, amazingly, you don’t have to travel anywhere on the day as it’s all under one roof. There was no need to worry about the weather too! To top it off, the food from the caterers that The Abbey provided was brilliant, we received so many compliments afterwards," says the couple.
Their ceremony was everything they hoped for and more. The newly renovated interiors of The Abbey retains all of the period charms with a modern, contemporary twist. The historical building has its very own chapel built in 1852, which showcases breathtaking, original stained glass windows making it the perfect place to say 'I do'! One of their favourite ceremony readings they recalled was The Union by Robert Fulgham. "It really resonated with us as we’ve been talking about our future together since the very early days of dating. We were almost wishing the time away at the beginning!" says Aimee. The couple had guests travel from all over the globe to celebrate with them, and to Aimee and Kevin, that was the most important element of their wedding day.
The beautiful bridesmaids wore a deep shade of dark green, a popular and timeless trend for a wedding colour palette. The style was simple, glamorous, and paired perfectly against Aimee's gown. The bouquets were bursting with plump white roses and fresh eucalyptus. Spot the green draped ribbon, a simple yet so effective fine detail! Speaking of the bridesmaids, Aimee recalls a memorable moment shared on the wedding morning: "The Abbey has a large bridesmaids suite which was so much fun for the morning of the wedding. We had music playing and champagne was flowing, it was a relaxed and fun way to start the day which helped when the nerves started to kick in!"
Check out some more awe-inspiring style - we love this wedding guest's gorgeous headpiece!
The aesthetic continues to please as we witness the finer details throughout reception room. To execute their stylish wedding theme, Aimee and Kevin sprinkled their special touch from the table settings to the wedding cake. Take a closer look at the guest tables, apart from the divine floral centrepieces, and green chair seats, green ribbon and fresh rosemary enhances each guest setting, with the foliage adding a delightful aroma to scent the wedding room. The three-tiered wedding cake, scattered with fresh white petals is the icing on the cake to this black-tie wedding!
The newlyweds, whose wedding moto went like "you can’t go wrong if you have good food, great music and lots of drink" advised couples to not stress the small stuff. Two days after the wedding they jetted off to the island of Bora Bora on their honeymoon of dreams, along with a stop in Los Angeles and San Francisco. "It’s a long way away but completely worth it! We’ve never been anywhere like it and we had the most memorable time," they say.
They shared their first dance as husband and wife to George Ezra, All My Love, in case you were wondering. Thank you kindly to Aimee, Kevin and Jasna Pasalic for capturing and sharing such beautiful moments of their magical black tie wedding day at The Abbey!
