If it's style and elegance you're looking for, today's real wedding is the perfect inspiration. Julia and Oscar had very different ideas for their afternoon wedding, but when they put their heads together it turned into a stylish, handmade garden party with a dash of elegant glamour! You'll love the fashion and the décor not to mention the stunning photographs captured by Axel & Berg Photography. Let's take a look...
So we start today's love story in Örebro in Sweden. Julia and Oscar are one stylish and creative duo who put their minds together (including their different opinions) to create a perfectly unique wedding day. And we're delighted to be swooning over the snaps today...
The pair felt strongly about the creative process and wanted to put their own stamp on things. This began with bride Julia's beautiful dress. The design was her own original idea. She sourced a seamstress on Etsy ,whose account unfortunately has since closed, and is now re-owned by Design & Syateljé Verica in Stockholm. The lace overlay is simply stunning over the cream structured bodice - and who doesn't love a tulle skirt!
When we started talking about the look of our wedding Oscar wanted it to be elegant and I wanted something rustic and romantic. So we decided to mix both themes. As a result we handmade a lot of the different details ourselves, it was really fun but a little bit stressful from time to time.
A Swedish wedding, or 'Bröllop' usually takes place in the afternoon. One of the customs in a Swedish wedding is for the couple to walk down the aisle together. I tradition that I never knew before but quite like, it's also similar to the 'first look' tradition that we see more and more in Irish weddings. In fact, it's actually quite rare that the father of the bride gives his daughter away in Sweden - I'm not sure the daddys of Ireland would like that too much!
Gold 'Lucky Me' letters on Oscar's soles...Very sweet, nice and subtle too! Aw and a few tears too...
It's only a glimpse but I know these bridesmaids are going to be uber chic...Love the crochet dress!
Woohoo, it's official!
Our fantastic photographers Susanne and Fredrik of Axel & Berg Photography followed us for the whole day and it felt like having an extra friend around. They gave us a lot of support and tips when needed and they were incredibly creative, engaged and focused on doing a good job. They even brought fruit and candy for us so we wouldn't get a sugar low during the day. So professional and lovely at the same time!
Julia's bouquet was grown by her mother - now that's a garden I'd like to see! The bouquet was decorated with lace ribbon and a medallion that had a photo of Julia's grandparents on their wedding day.
Another bride rockin' a beautiful flower crown (made by her mum, no less!) Did you see lovely bride Gill wearing her beautiful floral crown last week? If it's a trend you're following and hoping to do yourself, check out our Bridal Hair Garlands post for inspiration.
I told you the bridesmaids would be chic-tastic! Love the mix of styles and shades of pink, they compliment each other beautifully. Not to mention these girls are super stylish themselves, accessorizing with very cool yellow shoes (that I really want) and on-trend sunglasses.
Julia and Oscar chose the Karlslunds Herrgård Örebro as their reception venue, a beautiful country house with lots of nooks and crannies full of beautiful antiques.
One thing I learned about Swedish weddings is how much fun they can be! Throughout dinner, the guests sing love songs and as the night goes on, folk songs accompanied by a fiddle! Now that's what I call a party! Every guest is welcomed to give a speech or toast in honor of the new couple - now I might have to muzzle a few of my friends as they'd never sit down, but it's a lovely way to get everyone involved.
Love the watercolour stationery, we spotted the watercolour trend before.
We are so grateful for our families and friends that really came together and made our day special. They grew flowers for the bouquet, did the hair styling, acted our wedding officiant, sang for us and transported people around all day. It would not have been possible without you guys!
Huge congratulations to Julia and Oscar on their beautiful Swedish wedding! A big thank you goes to Axel and Berg Photography for sharing their work with us at One Fab Day. To see more of their work pop over to www.axelochberg.com/blog/
