For a stock car race driver and his bride, it's no wonder they met at a car dealership and spent their honeymoon at the Monaco Grand Prix! But when it came to their wedding, Andrew and Debs left the racing stripes on the road and went for a strictly sweet celebration at Montalto Estate. Photographer David Cavan captured the day and we're excited to share their afternoon tea celebration with our lovely readers today...
According to Debs, her man is a bit of a stock car racing legend, so when her car dealership suggested she meet him to talk about how to advertise on her new car, she knew she'd come to the right place. The two quickly hit it off and under the guise of "discussing logos" the two sparked a love that would last a lifetime. Their first date was barely a week after their first meeting and they never looked back!
When it came to the popping the big question, Andrew didn't waste time...Over breakfast with a mouth full of cereal, Andrew got down on one knee and proposed! A little surprised by the moment he had chosen, I eventually swallowed the oats and honey to say yes! Their very first date was at a Christmas Market, so Andrew brought Debs back a year later to pick out the perfect ring.
When it came to the morning of the wedding, bride Debs did the makeup for the whole bridal party! Debs is a talented makeup artist in her own right and felt that after ten years of being a makeup artist at so many weddings it would be very special to be able to do the makeup for her own wedding day. A special touch and fair play to her, looks like she's a lady who is calm under pressure!
And she did a super job with the bridal makeup and we just love her wedding gown from Petticoat Lane - it's a little bit traditional and a little bit alternative. the lace detail cape is just beautiful and wait till you see the back!
Car mad Andrew made sure to get something special when it came to the wheels of the day. One of his close friends lent him a 1967 Ford Cortina for the occasion - in turquoise blue!
How beautiful is the back of Debs' dress? If you can add a little something special to the back of your gown it's a lovely addition for walking down the aisle.
Because both Debs and Andrew had a lot of friends and work mates (and stock car racing buddies), the two decided to have an afternoon tea followed by a more intimate dinner...Our afternoon tea reception was one of the many highlights of the day. The dinner at Montalto was to be a small and intimate gathering but over the years so many people have touched our lives and meant so much to both of us. The afternoon tea was a great way to chat with everyone and share the day with people who have all impacted our lives in so many ways.
It was all hands on deck when it came to preparing the afternoon tea with friends and family making treats and sandwiches!
Of course Andrew and Debs had to go for a spin in the vintage wheels and take a few snaps and I have to say it really suits them!
For their dinner, Debs and Andrew chose Montalto House, primarily for the cosy atmosphere and welcoming vibe. They knew they would be able to fully relax once they got there and they wanted to make sure their guests went home with memories of a great feed - and the feedback has been just that!
Emma at Sweet Thing (who is only 17!) designed and made Deborah and Andrew’s gorgeous wedding cake. In every slice there was a tiny purple heart in the icing, amazing!
Having friends and family there to help made the day even more special for Andrew and Debs...So many people did kind and lovely things for us and it still is overwhelming to think of how above and beyond people will go to show you that they love and care for you.
The grounds surrounding Monalto are perfect for some photographs before the sun goes down.
Debs' advice comes hard won... I got sick the week before, I had no voice for the week of the wedding and a coughing ?t just before we were about to say the vows! These things happen and it doesn't mean the day is a disaster.
Of course, the couple's honeymoon had to involve a little racing. Debs' wedding present to Andrew was tickets to the Monaco Grand Prix! So off they jetted to Nice, where we're sure Andrew was ready to hop in the driver's seat! Congratulations, Debs and Andrew!
