Every wedding has a golden glow about it, it's something about the love of family and friends, the excitement of months of planning coming to fruition, and the spark of true romance all coming together - but today's wedding has an added golden glow - a touch of old worlde glamour as bride Louise met her groom Ivan in showstopper of a golden wedding gown. The couple celebrated in true Hollywood style in an intimate ceremony and celebration at Blessingbourne Estate and we're delighted to share Sharon Kee's beautiful images to inspire us all to go that extra glam mile...
Ivan and Laura had been dating for six years when they got engaged. Like many couples they'd talked about marriage and knew it was the next step... There was no proposal as such, we’d talked about marriage for a few years and knew that was what we both wanted for our future. Then one day last November we came to the realisation that we were ready to get married. Three days later we were engaged! And that was that.
So once that engagement was official the two started down the path of wedding planning. First things first for Laura was the wedding dress, and what a dress! Laura found her gorgeous golden gown at Joanne Ferguson Bridal. It's old Hollywood glamour at it's best, with tulle lining and sparkly gold sequin embellishments. Laura teamed it up with gold hair accessories and peep toe heels, just wait till you see the whole package!
Groom Ivan went for a very sharp navy blue suit accessorizing with very cool blue polka dot tie and purple pocket square.
The couple wanted a simple and informal celebration with just their family and close friends. They chose Blessingbourne Estate as the venue because it ticked all their boxes - exclusive use of the property for their guests, a homely and interesting venue, complete with gorgeous grounds. Another plus of their venue was the beautiful drawing-room that they used to hold their ceremony.
The couple served afternoon tea after the ceremony, how cute are those serving plates!
One of the sweetest elements of the wedding was that Laura and Ivan had two best men - a best man of the bride and a best man of the groom... I always knew my brother would have a big part in my wedding day. He is, has always and will always be my best friend. Tradition doesn’t factor the bride’s best friend being male, so we started our own. I look forward to continuing this new tradition by being his best man. No pressure obviously, if you’re reading this Jack!
We can't forget to draw your attention to Ivan's very cool waistcoat! The light blue turquoise buttons bring a pop of colour and check out his pocket watch, suits you sir!
The giant hydrangea petals on Laura's one flower bouquet are an elegant compliment to her gold gown. If you're thinking of a one flower bouquet you must check out our post 13 Stunning One Flower Bridal Bouquet post for inspiration and tips.
The couple kept the cool vibe going when it came to their reception, throwing a dinner banquet in a marquee on the grounds. The food went down a treat with a chilled out bbq banquet with friends and family digging in and serving themselves.
Laura's advice to brides and grooms planning their weddings is characteristically simple...Try not to let other people influence you. Go with what feels right for you.
Congratulations Ivan and Laura on your wedding day! A special thanks goes to Sharon Kee for sharing her work with us at One Fab Day! To see more of Sharon's work pop over to www.sharonkeephotography.com.
