Cathy and Daíre's Valentia Island wedding is going to make you want to pack up the car and drive straight west this morning. And you might want to pick up the Poppies and Meteam on the way, and do a little reenactment of Cathy and Daíre's incredible wedding photos high above the clouds on the edge of the world.
Cathy and Daíre met while working in the same office. Soon, office romance turned into office engagement! Daíre popped the question in their Australian home, on Observatory Hill in a bandstand overlooking Sydney Harbour! He'd even managed to smuggled the engagement ring back from Ireland!
The two were looking for a relaxed, friendly and country vibe for their big day, with lots of food, drink and music for their guests. They had been to Valentia Island on holidays before and knew that was the spot for their wedding. You really feel like you are at the edge of the world when you are there!
Cathy's Eden dress from Jenny Packham was just stunning - off white and embellished with little jewels and beading. Gorgeous!
Cathy's something old was something also very special - her maternal grandmother's bracelet.
They looked to the help of Annie from Aislinn Events for some extra assistance as they were planning their wedding from abroad, and were thrilled to pass off some of the duties to her! But even though they enlisted the help of a wedding planning, they were completely in charge of decisions, adding their own personal touches to everything on the day.
Ready to go, Daire?
And it's official! Happily married!
We're loving the similar hairstyles on the bridesmaids - and their sweet lavender dresses. The touches of purple continue throughout the decor in just the right amounts.
Now for those stunning edge of the world photographs. This is one day I bet everyone was thankful for those big, fat Irish clouds! They make these portraits incredibly dramatic!
Cathy and Daíre were able to customize the wedding to their tastes at Valentia Island Hotel. Every single element was chosen specifically by Daire and I, the hotel let us do whatever we wanted. Score!
One of the ways Cathy and Daire were able to achieve such a relaxed atmosphere at the reception was with the cosy arrangement at each of the tables. Different sized arrangements, sweet pots of flowers, a bottle of wine and some bread sticks and nibbles. It's elegant but still homey at the same time.
As for advice for couples planning their weddings, Cathy says follow your heart and don't be afraid to be different. People enjoy weddings with a difference. Too true!
For their honeymoon, the couple jetted off to Barcelona and Paris!
Congratulations, Daíre and Cathy, hope that honeymoon was super romantic!
And of course, a huge thanks from us to the lovely Sean and Kate of Poppies and Me for sharing these incredible edge of the world photographs with us today. Pop over to www.poppiesandme.ie to see more of their lovely work...
