Hang onto your feathered hats this morning, because this wedding is a stunner! Michael and Naomi's 1920s inspired wedding has some of the most exquisite details from deep jewel tones, lots of incredible feather accessories,to a bride who can rock a red lip all day long! We're completely smitten and can't wait to show you Gillian Higgins' wonderful images from the day!
So how did these stylish companions meet? Well Michael and Naomi met three years ago through mutual friends, after 10 months they realised they really liked each other and the rest, they said was history!
When it came to popping the question, like their romance to date, it didn't take long for Michael to realise Naomi was the one. He cooked up a plan and brought Naomi to Mallorca. He attempted a romantic mountain hike, but Naomi wasn't having it, so Michael resorted to asking her in their boutique hotel room. It may not have gone totally to plan, but he got the answer he was looking for in the end!
Ok so we now have the low down on how Michael and Naomi met and how the proposal went, now lets talk about our super stylish bride! It was 1920s glam with a twist for Naomi, her amazing wedding gown is one we'll definitely remember, a mix of beading and lace embellishment topped off with a floor length feather skirt - Wow! Katie Wilson from Una Rodden Boutique put together the blush feathered gown. If that wasn't gorgeous enough Naomi paired her out of this world gown with a lace and feather headpiece, we are super impressed and love Naomi's spin on 1920s glamour.
With style like Naomi's it's no surprise they planned a modern classic wedding with a 1920s twist. Details were key on the day, starting with the bride herself, her beautifully dressed bridesmaid (wait till you see the bridesmaid accessories!) and the simple touches the couple added throughout the day.
The incredible feathers didn't stop with the bride as you can see. Katie Wilson, Naomi's dress designer lavished her skills on Naomi's bridesmaid's collar as well. In a million years we wouldn't have picked a long feather collar paired with emerald-green lace but it is the perfect combination - Talk about a statement piece!
We'll give you a minute to take it in. Can you even believe those feathers? We also love that drop waisted flower girl frock. It's the perfect 1920s twist Naomi was looking for!
The pair said I do in the gorgeous St Patricks Church, look at all the stylish wedding guests waiting in the pews!
Oh, and did we mention Naomi's dress was backless? Stunning!
Of course, groom Michael was 1920s glam on the day too, he looked very handsome indeed not to mention dapper in his tails and white bow tie.
Naomi and Michael added a little modern twist by taking some portrait photos with a large ampersand sign. It's graphic yet really simple - we like!
We've been distracted by Naomi's beautiful wedding gown but her fabulous bouquet is not to be dismissed. The wonderful mix of lilac and cream roses combined with yellow and blue flowers add a splash of colour to Naomi's look and we love the exaggerated size of the bouquet too.
Michael and Naomi looked at a lot of venues before landing on Shu Restaurant. They were sold when they hit it off with the restaurant manager, and knew they'd be happy with the service for their guests. We love the idea of using a restaurant as the reception venue after a church ceremony. It's a great option to keep in mind as you're looking for venues!
That's one stylish bridal party, it's lovely to see 1920s style but with added personality and that's just what Naomi and Michael have done.
Naomi's bridesmaid was beautiful on the day and we're just blown away by her accessories, feather collar and a peacock feather headpiece!
Now that is a desert table to leave room for. Nude wedding cakes with Summer fruits are all the rage now and iced bundt cakes too, yum!
Naomi's advice to couples planning their weddings is what she and Michael excelled at on their big day... Be unique, think outside the box, smile and enjoy. And that's exactly what Naomi did, she was beaming for the whole day and she rocked that red lippy! We could have pinned her for our red lip tips a few weeks back!
For their honeymoon, Naomi and Michael went back to the scene of their proposal in Mallorca. Congratulations to the happy couple! And a huge thanks to Gillian Higgins for sharing her work with us. To see more of Gillian's work pop over to www.gillianhigginsphotography.com
