This week is turning into a bit of an impromptu Vintage Wedding Week, after yesterday's gorgeous 60s Wedding and Monday's Vintage Wedding Fair Belfast announcement, today we've got a great vintage specialist wedding service to introduce to you: Me Auld China.

Me Auld China is a vintage china company, run by Maria & Andy, specialising in gorgeous vintage cake stands, which they can also create to order with your own old plates if you want to "Pimp Your Plates", and with a rapidly expanding vintage china collection they are now offering vintage china rental service.

As with so many great wedding businesses, Me Auld China started with Maria & Andy's own wedding, as Maria explained...

It all started with a beautiful 3-tier 1950s cake stand that I bought for my wedding in 2009. I fell in love with vintage cake stands from the moment I set eyes on it, but discovered they are very hard to get your hands on. Since then I've been collecting vintage china plates to recreate the authentic feel of the beautiful cake stands from the past.

We started out selling our cake stands at various vintage markets around Dublin. We then added to our stock base, and began selling complimentary china wares such as trios of cups, saucers, plates, jugs and sugar bowls. Our latest product is a jewellery stand, crafted from a combination of vintage china and glassware. People love the idea of mixing and matching their china for a quirky theme.

What's your favourite anecdote from one of your brides or weddings?

One bride asked me to create a cake stand from beautiful plates she had inherited from her late grandmother. She used it as a table centrepiece at her wedding reception. She was delighted with the finished product, and it represented a very sentimental piece on her very special day.
