Happy Thursday All! We have a the very sweet love story of Sara and David to share with you. After meeting as friends online, Sara, a farmer's daughter from Mayobridge in County Down fell for a Canadian boy originally from Botswana who popped the question high in the Rocky Mountains. Coming home to her roots Sara said "I do" on her family's beautiful farm with some rustic vintage style and a relaxed festival vibe. Images by Nica captured all the fun and festivities of the big day...
Like many people these days Sara took to Plenty of Fish in search of making some new friends before a big move to Canada and she was lucky when she started chatting to David... "I started chatting to David online in February 2010 before I moved to Vancouver in June 2010. I was trying to meet some friends online knowing no one and I met a bit more than that! We were friends for a few months before we started dating!" A true modern love story!
Sara started off with one perfect dress which she found on etsy.com while she was pregnant with her daughter Arianna, but one dress suddenly became two... Â "Back then I thought buying my original size would be fine and I didn't quite realise that when I went to try this dress on 3 months after Ari was born I couldn't even get into it never mind zip it up! So, I went into Elody Bride in Newry and was lucky to find another beautiful dress, for my big day which actually fitted! By the time it came to June, 7 months after Arianna was born I was able to fit into my original dress so I decided to make the most of it and wear the original one in the evening time as it was much more evening dress style."
David proposed in a sky lift on top of Grouse Mountain with a beautiful 1940's vintage ring which was a family heirloom, luckily he had his wits about him when he popped the question as there were grizzly bears roaming around beneath them!
From the very start of her wedding planning Sara knew she wanted to get married on a farm and what better place then the one she grew up on... "IÂ have always known I wanted to get married on our farm. There is nowhere else that would have fitted what I wanted, which was a relaxed fun weekend where everyone could let their hair down."
Stylish gents alert! How cool is the groom and groomsmen style? Sara and David choose tweed jackets complete with elbow patches and paired them with flat caps for a truly country chic look!
Love the bales of hay and lanterns along the aisle in true festival style. Stay tuned later today for more festival wedding inspiration...
Sara and David had their ceremony in Sara's parents' back garden with a celebrant who told their guests their love story.
There's two happy faces!
Sara and David gave their guests a 'Famer Chic' dress code which they all embraced, adding to the relaxed vibe of the day.
So let's get this party started...
After the ceremony guests walked to the barn where they were served home made cocktails or guinness in jam jars with coloured straws while nibbling on delicious South African appetizers by the amazing caterers at Challas Catering.
Sara and David called on the talents of Images by Nica to capture all the fun and frolics of their big day, I'm sure you'd all agree she did the job perfectly!
Being a farmer's daughter the theme for our stylish bride's decor was farmer chic with a twist of vintage. Bunches of daisies, bunting, festoon lighting, pastels and pretty florals all brought the ideas to life perfectly.
I love the marquee. The rustic elements look great against the subtle feminine colour palette and flowers.
The newlyweds opted for a tasty cheese cake instead of the more traditional wedding cake - I like their style!
Celebrations carried on into the night with The Sands Family Folk Group keeping everyone entertained.
Any advice for brides and grooms who are planning their day? "Hmm, don't stress out too much. We enjoyed 6 weeks in Spain the month before our wedding! Although the big things like the marquee were booked there was still a lot to do, but we thought we would rather have a busy month than a hectic stressful year of planning - who needs that? Enjoy every minute, make your wedding your own, and for goodness sake get yourself a Grace & Saviour, and the best photographer - Images by Nica because my word all the money in the world wouldn't be enough for them on the day!"
Congratulations to Sara and David on fabulous festival style wedding and a big thank you to Images by Nica for sharing her work with us at One Fab Day! To see more of Nica's work pop on over to imagesbynica.com
