But what would you expect when the bride is one of Ireland's leading stylists? That's right, you just might recognise that face - the beautiful bride is Sarah Rickard, chief stylist with Irish Tatler and fashion maven. So as you would expect everything is just gorgeous (no pressure on the guests then!). Our thanks to Doreen Kilfeather for sharing her beautiful work with us today...

As the couple chose to get married during a wintry time of the year, they were looking for any extra luck they could get. They set out a little statue of the Child of Prague, which is supposed to keep bad weather away for the day. According to Doreen, "It is said to work even better if the head is broken off!"

What stylish young men! Starting the tux-wearing early!

Sarah's dress was an intricate creation from designer Sanyukta Shrestha. In creating her bridal look, Sarah aimed for a Daisy Buchanan meets Lady Mary (of Downton Abbey) style, but with a very modern twist. The dropped waist silk dress is classic 1920s-30s glamour, but the intricate beading on the sleeveless bolero top bring the wedding dress right into the 21st century, with an opulence that is perfect for a sparkling New Year's Eve affair.

Working with a fellow professional, Doreen was determined to make sure the images were the very best they could be (and hers are always super), knowing the winter light would be a challenge for her as a photographer, so she prepared well in advance. "As it was one of the darkest and coldest times of the year - as a photographer I had a challenge with lighting. I decided instead of using strong flash to light everything up, that I would go with the natural candlelit look - I studied Stanley Kubrick’s Barry Lyndon to get a feel for the look we were going for. For the portraits of the bride and groom I went for that old Hollywood style lighting - again to add that bygone era feel to the day. The lighting assistant was key to the whole photography effort."

The flower girls wore gold sequin taffeta dresses, they looked extra cute with top knots in their hair and little fur jackets." And perfectly seasonally appropriate as well! The flowers, from The Garden at Powerscourt, were made up in a delicate pastel palette with touches of evergreen and eucalyptus to give it a wintry finish.  This is a great tip for brides thinking of a winter wedding - pastels plus evergreen is a perfect way to brighten up a seasonal bouquet. Know for seasonal, delicate flowers, The Garden has featured on OneFabDay providing soft floral headpieces - perfect for adding some glamour.

The couple exchanged their vows at the Unitarian Church on St. Stephen's Green in the heart of Dublin, before tripping their way merrily through the twilit streets to chic eaterie Fallon & Byrne on Exchequer St, their guests following along - what a New Year's Eve sight that must have been

Before heading upstairs to the reception room, the couple stopped in the food hall for a few photos with produce for props!

Like the flowergirls, the bridesmaids were ultra glam, wearing gorgeous gold sequin wrap gowns by Diane Von Furstenberg that gave them that New Year's Eve sparkle and fit the 1920's theme perfectly. See ladies, bridesmaid's dresses can be grown up and gorgeous!

Fallon & Byrne's antique mirrors and red cushioned benches formed the perfect backdrop for the art deco feel for the evening, so Sarah could add her stylist's professional touches to create a cohesive and stunning look.

"Sarah hired gold sequin table cloths to continue the golden era look. Florist Mark Grehan arranged the centre pieces, mindful to preserve that feel of a time gone by, dusty old roses, winterberries and bell jars. Old family heirlooms of the groom's provided the perfect candlabras. Place names were made using vintage scrabble tiles. Favours were bespoke cookies of the couple’s favourite desserts including eclairs, tirimisu and pavlova - what a sweet and whimsical idea! For some alternative favours check out our DIY favours inspiration.

But at the heart of every wedding, no matter how glam the occasion, there is one very important thing: Love.

Told you the guests were glam! But Sarah put those cute boys to work on the night too, she gave her nephews polaroid cameras and asked them to snap away as the night went on, getting guests to sign the pics and write a little note on the polaroids. The photos were attached to mini wooden pegs on string during the night, adding nicely to the decor.

And the piece de resistance! Now this is what you call a backdrop! The Invitation was a laser cut gold feather that had a 30's feel as the font was art deco style. An artist was commissioned to sketch a gold feather with little birds flying out of the barb onto 6 foot chalkboards. These made a wonderful backdrop for photos, particular as the venue was beautiful, but tight for space!"

Gold and glitter even extended to the wedding cake. "The wedding cake was raspberry and white chocolate sponge covered in gold glitter icing."

Sarah decorated the DJ area with Mexican bunting that was customised with the couple’s names and the date of their big day!

For the reception, the overlay on Sarah's dress was removed for easy dancing! But it certainly didn't remove any of the sparkles!
