Jess and Will celebrated their out-of-this-world love in Ballyvolane House. Breaking away from the norm, our happy couple celebrated in their own unique style with a trip to the seaside for some kite surfing, a traditional ceilidh band, space themed decor and a pack of Scotsmen! Who better then Aga from White Tea to capture all the ups and downs (literally) of this jam-packed wedding day...
Jess' delicate lace wedding dress is from French bridal designer Cymbeline - there's an old world look to her bridal style, with the simplicity of the dress, teamed with loose fingerwaves in her hair, Jess' timeless means she a bride in any era in the history of Ballyvolane House.
Jess and Will had their ceremony service in St Mary’s Collegiate church in Youghal, the oldest church in Ireland to still hold services! "The fantastic choir was formed by friends and family — they only rehearsed once just before the service! I love the words to it (For the Beauty of the Earth), and we also had some music from Holst’s ‘The Planet Suite’.  To explain, Jess and Will both work in the Space industry and have a particular love of all things celestial, so this was a subtle but recurring theme throughout their day.
And following the ceremony, the happy couple stepped out into blazes of sunshine and the celebrations began...
Now this is a first for One Fab Day, a bride celebrating her 'I do'  kite surfing style! We'll let Jess fill you in on this one..."We both love kite surfing — and have travelled around the world having some amazing adventures. We had quite a few kite surfing friends there and they helped set up a photo opportunity. I loved it — only wished I could have got in the water as well, as it looked like a wonderful day on the beach but my mother would have killed me if I had come back looking like a drowned rat!
With barely a hair out of place (good on you Jess) the couple went off for some more intimate images under that gorgeous blue sky!
In case you hadn't spotted it already, our groom Will  is Scottish (tip: look out for the kilt!) and of course he had a special request for his wedding day entertainment, a Scottish Ceilidh, which went down a treat with guest when they arrived at the wedding reception in Ballyvolane House.
But some Irish traditions had to creep in... There's Justin, owner of Ballyvolane with a few sneaky pints of Guinness
Aren't the bride and groom a creative pair... in the gardens they created their very own love maze, to entertain their guests.
Given their love of space, it isn't a surprise that the celestial theme crept into tjeir decor... "Well, I have always been very interested in science and space, and am lucky to now be working on European Spacecraft Mission Designs. Last year, as a surprise, Will flew me out to see one of the last Space shuttle launches in Florida, which was very romantic! Hence why our order of service and invite is a painting I did for Will of us at the shuttle launch, and our table names are all different Space Missions, both past and present."
I'm a sucker for beautiful blooms, and these are heavenly and as fresh as can be. "My grandmother, sister, bridesmaid and mum did all the flowers at the venue and the tables. I thought they were beautiful, very natural and a lot were straight from the garden at Ballyvolane. My bridesmaid also made all the stars that we used to decorate the reception."
Ballyvolane House is the perfect party venue, full of nooks and crannies; interesting and eclectic decor; and the fact that it is owned by a family friend, made it even more personal and special.
Incorporating  their own family traditions into their wedding day was very important to Jess and Will, even if the season wasn't quite right...12 days of Christmas is a longstanding tradition in my house, and I taught it to Will’s family about 8 years ago. They have shown it to some of their friends and it has always gone down well. I wanted to share the fun and joy of it, and so, even though it was August I thought it appropriate to sing as everyone knows it, and now they all know the actions too. I think everyone enjoyed it!
Congratulations to Jess and Will - the heavens certainly smiled on you both. And thank you to Aga from White Tea for sharing her work with us. It's been a while, great treat to see you back on these pages again.  To see more of Aga's work pop over to www.whitetea.ie
