Nothing sets the mood for a wedding, quite like the invitation or save the date. A beautifully designed invite, gives all the guests an insight into the kind of party they'll be attending and gets them excited. Today we're delighted to have a very special stop motion Save the Date video, created by Jonty and Mel, together with videographer Matthew Levings for their wedding celebration. Quirky and fun, shot in stop motion, it's a cute couple's way of saying "you're invited" in a way that is uniquely them...
We met at law school and ended our degrees last year, and we are doing our articles this year. We wanted to send out a save the date because the weekend we were getting married was surrounded by loads of public holidays. After googling loads of wedding blogs, it was decided that we would shoot a stop motion save the date video! It was easy and could be emailed to our guests before the formal invites came out closer to the date. But we had no idea where to get it done. We decided to take a chance with a mutual friend and art student who focused on photography (Matt Levings), and thought, what the heck, why not? It actually turned out great, and we shot the video a day after Jonty and I finished our final exams. We had loads of fun picking the scenes and making the props, and my best friend helped us on the day. We love Wits University, as it has so many cherished memories for us, so we thought it would be a great keepsake for years to come. The shoot was really fun, each frame was individually shot, and took about 6 and a half hours to shoot, we were only allowed to move an inch at a time, which was a great laugh!
Thanks to Jonty and Mel for sharing their story and their stop motion save the date video with us. And of course, big thanks to videographer Matthew Levings for sharing his work - we're delighted. Hopefully it will inspire some more couples to have a little fun with their save the date.
