As a rule I'm not a big one for wedding favours, the idea in principle is nice, but I'm generally disappointed by the favours themselves - not a big fan of chocolate before the meal etc. But with a bit of thought favours can be really lovely, giving a memento of your wedding and a little thank you into the bargain. So what about for a Christmas-time wedding giving beautiful Christmas Tree Ornaments as wedding favours? So your guests can take home pretty baubles and hang on their own tree as a keepsake of your big day.
There's a few different ways to think doing this: the simplest is to bulk buy your favourite christmas ornaments in a style to complement your wedding, and to put one at each place-setting as the wedding favour. Perhaps with a little note or card attached explaining they are for the guest to keep. These could be bought anywhere from Ikea to a christmas market. If you've lots of time (& money) you could have names painted on them, and have them instead of placecards on the tables.
You can actually buy (I was surprised to find such a selection) glass christmas bauble placeholders - the card slots in at the top - nothing to stop them being used as decorations on the tree afterwards.
Depending on your budget and taste there are lots of very pretty christmas decorations out there that would be perfect for the purpose - especially the scandinaviam style hearts that have become so popular in the last couple of years. These could be placed on the napkin or beside the placecard (you could add a little note "For You" beside it)
If money is no object, then a Waterford Crystal ornament from House of Ireland is a beautiful keepsake. For more budget-friendly favours - Ikea has lovely christmas decorations including these cute paper stars. The pretty xcandinavian ivory and red painted heart is from Mabel & Violet or a plain wooden heart (also available in silver) from Abode.
An elegant clear crystal bauble placeholder will go with any wedding decor - this one is from Christmas Time UK - and could do for a wedding at any time of year. More traditionally festive are the white glass with red snowflake design, which you can buy online from Pod, a cool shop I was in recently in Oxford. Paperchase have these pretty silver bauble placeholders in packs of six.
This is just a tiny selection, you've all seen the masses of options in the shops, and even if you're not getting married til next winter, it's a good idea to have a look around now, as there are so many sales and discounts on at the moment, you should be able to bag yourself a bargain.
Feeling all festive now! Happy Monday.
