There's nothing so exciting as seeing a new trend emerging, one by one you see something a little different and special, so it has been over the past few months with Watercolour wedding ideas. From soft-washed cakes to dipped invitations, watercolour wedding ideas of all kinds have been popping up and grabbing our attention. Who could fail to be entranced by these soft tones and gorgeous hues?

Cake

You all know by know us OFD ladies love our sweet treats, so starting of our round-up of watercolour inspiration we have mouth-watering wedding cakes to get the ideas flowing. How incredible are these ones above? So delicate, yet so delicious! First up we have the super four tier cake captured by Onelove photography and spotted over on 100 Layer Cake. Next we have the blue and yellow cake with pretty lace details which comes from Wedding Chicks shot by Mike Colon.

The soft iced aqua ombre stye cake comes from Sweetapolita where you can also find a step by step guide on how to recreate it yourself! Last but not least in our delicious selection we have the gorgeous peach cake with flower detail captured by Harwell Photography and featured over on 100 Layer Cake.

Stationery

Our watercolour stationery inspiration includes the strong brush stroke orange and pink invitation from Minted, the super simple paintchip escort cards captured by Harwell Photography over on 100 Layer Cake, such a genius idea and a great way of incorporating the watercolour look into your wedding day but with minimal effort! The handpainted lilac chevron suite  is from The Aerialist Press which featured on Wedding Chicks and the gorgeous blue save the date comes from Allie Ruth Design.

Next up we have the pretty pastel letterpress which comes from Oh Happy Day spotted over on Ohsobeautifulpaper.com, the purple and peach watercolour comes  from Stephanie Yonce Photography via Ruffled and the fun bunting style invitation featured over on Invitation Crush. For gorgeous bespoke watercolour invitations made here in Ireland make sure to pop on over to Pretty as a Picture.

Decor

For decor we found a whole host of fun little details. You can choose to take even a simple element and apply it to your big day like this gorgeous pink watercolour napkin over on Bright Bazaar. This look is so easily achieved simply by taking a white linen napkin and dip dying with pink, yellow and fuchsia dyes. The watercolour table setting from Decor8 shows that you don't need to play by the rules to achieve a fun table setting.

Accessorise your reception with watercolour pieces like the cushion from Folksy , the poppy plate design from Home Shopping Spy or the chevron table cloth from Ultrapom. Feeling crafty?  Once Wed have a very simple DIY showing you how to create the pretty watercolour tea lights.

So guys, what's the verdict? Do you like this new trend and will you be trying it out on your big day? Let us know what you think in the comments below!
