Love was in the air in the hidden oasis of Glasson Lakehouse, nestled on the tranquil shores of Lough Lee, in Co. Westmeath. Our real wedding couple Eadaoin and Conor's special day was sprinkled with special touches from goodie bags and Spotify playlists for guests to enjoy, to Bodie, their fur-baby whose presence was seen throughout. And of course a special mention for a very cool denim bridal jacket! Photograher extraordinaire Nina Val was on hand to capture the glorious day, and we are delighted to be able to showcase it below!
Upstyle Funk Hair was the talented stylist behind Eadaoin's gorgeous bridal hair look. She chose an elegantly soft style of loose curls paired with the mist magnificent pearl headpiece. "I came across my headpiece on Instagram and fell in love immediately. It was from an Australian designer called A’El Este," she said.
So let's get the backstory on how our two lovebirds first became acquainted shall we? "We first met when we worked together in Penneys back in 2009 and we’ve been together ever since! For the proposal Conor caught me completely by surprise in our house in December 2020. Our dog Bodie was called in to help ask the big question – and Conor knows I can’t say no to Bodie!" she laughs. And below you'll see Bodie in his adorable doggie wedding gear, waiting for his precious humans to tie the knot!
Glistening in the sunshine are the gorgeous wedding bands. The groom's was sourced from one McCaul Jewellers, a jeweller that creates contemporary wedding jewellery for couples who share a passion for exceptional design. He complemented these with personalised cuff links, a pocket square and the best accessory of all - novelty socks with Bodie's face on them.
Conor, the groom, looked uber-stylish in his three-piece suit - in a lovely springtime shade of blue and ivory accents. As for the beautiful bride, her look was styled by Alice May Bridal. They stock the best designers, which can be described as contemporary and classic, dreamy and romantic! "I visited Alice May Bridal and fell in love with the first dress I tried on! I loved the way that the skirt of the dress had movement. The team were brilliant to deal with from the start," says Eadaoin.
Special touches were seen throughout the day from the church to the reception. "Bodie didn’t attend the wedding, but Conor did get photos taken with him that morning. We had an easel with his photo on it at the entrance to the church and guests loved getting their photos taken with him!" As the wedding reception was a 90-minute commute from the ceremony, the newlyweds ensured that the guests enjoyed the road trip with a personalised wedding Spotify playlist and goodie bags for guests to enjoy and keep their energy levels up -now that is thoughtful thinking!
Arriving at the ceremony in complete style with her dad in a gorgeous 1967 camper van named Dorothy from Volk Weddings!
Eadaoin walked down the aisle to Heartbeats by Jose Gonzalez and they chose Lovely Day by Bill Withers for their exit as husband and wife, with both pieces of music described as "perfectly suited for the emotions at the time."
The sunshine certainly was not shy during the May wedding day, reflecting off on the gorgeous waters of Glasson Lakehouse. This newly-renovated lakeside venue boasts romantic surroundings and an award-winning golf course. along with stunning features such as a new-look ballroom, a cosy pub and a heated swimming pool! The couple describes what made this venue hidden in the Westmeath heartlands the one: "We stayed in the summer of 2020 and fell in love with the setting by the lake. When we got engaged, we had a video call with the coordinator and when we heard the renovation plans we felt it suited our style perfectly. We really couldn’t have chosen better!"
The intimate bridal party complemented the venue's colour theme with shades of navy and celeste blue, along with neutral blossoms, keeping it subtle and sweet.
The lakehouse wedding aesthetic was inspired by the venues surrounding beauty, so continuing the rustic magic through the reception tables and decor elements was a must! "As Glasson Lakehouse has quite a rustic feel, with a gorgeous outdoor setting we focused on complementing what was already there. The décor needed very little added to what was already provided by the venue," they say. A wooden table plan dressed in eucalyptus and baby's breath welcomed guests to their reception tables which were finished with rustic wood slices and pretty floral vases. We adore the wedding post box, a great way to keep wedding cards safe and secure!
The crocheted wedding favours and cute cake toppers were handmade with love by Conor’s mother, along with a sentimental picture board with images of their grandparents. The couple also added some extra unique elements such as a glowstick station for later on the evening along with some fun musical props to really get the crowd going to one of our favourite wedding bands - Electric Circus!
When it comes to wedding advice, Eadaoin and Conor said to take time to sit down, talk and enjoy your day together. "Also, don’t stress over the small stuff, no one will even notice on the day!" Photographer Nina Val, was also praised by the newlyweds. "We were introduced through Conor’s auntie and Nina gave us so much of her time in the run-up to the wedding, getting to know us and what style photographs we would like. She perfectly captured the atmosphere of the day and she got amazing photographs!" We totally agree with Eadoin on that one!
Once the celebrations came to a close, Mandy from The Travel Counsellors planned a honeymoon of a lifetime to Las Vegas and Mexico. "We couldn’t recommend Mandy enough; she organised our whole trip which meant we could focus on planning the wedding. The trip was the perfect balance of relaxation and adventure!" they say.
