We just love when we see a new quirky trend or style emerging that is a little different from everything we have seen before. So when something new and exciting comes along we get very excited here at One Fab Day HQ. And that is just what happened when we started exploring the wonderful world of... maps! Map décor is perfect for the travelling-mad couple or maybe a couple who endured a long distance relationship or maybe simply a destination wedding where the guests are coming from far and wide...
You don't have to extend the map theme throughout the whole wedding but we think small touches here and there can look great.
If you are open to the idea of a map themed wedding why not try some ideas similar to the one we featured in our magazine. The way the bride arranged each table setting into a gorgeous fan shape using paper tags just adds that little bit of extra drama and we just love it. Escort cards and table plans are a great way of using maps or map décor in a subtle way. The drama and intricacy of the gift tag and twine table plan we spotted over on Wedding Chicks is just so interesting but we also think they simplicity of aged luggage tags and a vintage map seen on Style me Pretty looks fantastic too. The twist in the last image from Wedding Chicks of using the miniature cocktail flags is so unique and clever and the splash of colour adds that little bit of extra pazazz.
If you already have your table plan and escort cards sorted but love the map theme as much as us, why not incorporate the design in to your wedding in a different way. Decoupage lettering is a huge trend at the moment so why not cover your letters with maps of the places where you have travelled with your love. The ones we found are available online from the Irish shop Little White Dog. Table numbers like the lovely one over on Style me Pretty would also be a great way to work in any maps of any special places that mean something to you and your fiancée. In fact there are just so may sweet ways to incorporate maps into the styling of your special day. From things like the map pinwheels available from ElizabethSt to the super cute heart shaped map confetti from Millyscottage on Etsy. We are particularly fond of the heart shaped map garlands from Bookity and the oh so sweet and lovely mini map bunting from D Sharp. If you ask me there are just TOO many lovely ways you could incorporate maps into your very special day.
Perhaps you like the idea of maps but have already arranged all of the details for your wedding or are already married. Don't worry! We have something for everyone. If you are liking the whole map thing as much as us, why not stretch it a little further and work maps into your home. Maybe you got engaged in Paris or New York. Wouldn't it be lovely to frame a map of the location with a picture of you and your Mr on the trip as a keepsake. The one we spotted over on Martha Stewart Weddings is just gorgeous. Sticking with the whole framed theme, why not cut out your wedding date or initials or maybe even just a simple heart shape and mount them in an elegant frame. You can actually buy these lovely ones from Not On The High Street or Little White Dog . When it comes to map jewellery or gifts, Etsy has you covered from earrings to cufflinks, you can get it all. We picked out a couple of items that we thought were very fitting. The earrings and bracelet are both from dlkdesigns and the trendy cufflinks can be bought from whitetruffle. Map keepsake ideas are so simple but look very elegant and we think they will be popping up in lots of homes soon.
We love the whole map craze and as you can see, there are plenty of options out there for every persons map preferences. From bunting to bookends and everything in-between, you certainly won't be getting too 'lost' when trying choose a trend that is right for you! Ps.Don't forget to include a lovely map with your wedding invitation like these fun ones from Cute Maps.
