Hi there! I am Joanna. You may have seen my name popping up a couple of times on posts over the past couple of weeks so I thought I better introduce myself properly. I am the new intern here in the OFD office and I'm very excited because today I got to do my very first Real Wedding post!

Today we have a wedding that is so beautiful we just don't know where to start. Each element is effortlessly elegant and ultra chic. From the ceremony to the reception (in the bride's parents' home) and the beautiful bouquets and the very dapper groom, I don't know what my favourite part of the day is. There are some brides who take your breath away when you see them in their wedding gown and our bride today certainly did that. Susan looks so elegant and demure in her Kathy de Stafford gown. She looks like a bride you would see in an Italian wedding magazine.

So enough of me swooning, let's get into the nitty gritty details. The marriage of  Susan and David took place in the University Church on St. Stephens Green in Dublin and after a few romantic photos while taking a stroll in the park the couple wined and dined back at Susan's parents' home. What could make you more relaxed and comfortable on your big day then being in the home where you grew up. How lovely is that!

The bride told us that she wanted a vintage/classical theme to the wedding. Susan wanted a very traditional day and opted to have a clear palette with only cream and green colours and old champagne saucers. With vintage running rampant in the wedding world, it is so refreshing to see such an elegant take on the theme. There is no flowery bunting in sight at this wedding.

This bride's choice of classic Jimmy Choos is spot on for her chosen style of wedding. They are so simple and elegant we can see them becoming an heirloom, being passed down through the generations of brides in the family.

So how did the lovely couple meet? I'll let the bride fill you in. 'A friend played cupid and introduced us to each other. It took David a while to pluck up the courage to ask for a date and a good few text messages but after that the rest is history!'

And how did he pop the question? We want all the soppy details. 'We were in Spain on holidays and David suggested that we take a day trip to Rhonda. We were sitting in this beautiful old Spanish park and low and behold David popped the question and took out this beautiful ring that he picked himself.' Wow...handsome, romantic and a talented jewellery buyer. What more could a girl want?!

We love how the bridal party also had a little tea party while they were getting ready. A cup of tea is such a comforting and nostalgia filled beverege and it goes hand in hand with any Irish event. We love the idea of sharing this special time with your closest gal pals and settling the nerves with a good auld cuppa on your big day. And if they are served in stunning, vintage china it doesn't hurt either.

This picture has so much emotion and activity in it. But one thing we do know is that is the loving look of a very proud Mammy.

Last week we did a post about Mother of the Bride outfits, trying to encourage Mums to look gorgeous and glamorous, not falling into the horrid shiny taffeta rut so many poor Mammies end up in. If ever there was a shining example of  what we meant, it's Susan's Mum, who looks the epitome of elegance in her soft blue and taupe ensemble. Mammies take note!

As Susan and David's chosen style for the wedding was traditional and classical, she did an excellent job keeping her flowers within the theme. Her gorgeous flowers, which were created by the folks at The French Touch ensured the gorgeous neutral bouquet was in keeping with everything else and complimented the drop dead gorgeous gown.

The man of the moment, David, was decked out in a very dapper three piece suit from Black Tie. The combination of navy, grey and the pastel pink tie is very contemporary but the classic cut of the suit has throw backs to the days of Cary Grant.

The tradition of the groom (and his band of merry men) heading to the pub for a pint to steady the nerves is becoming very popular. So David and his men headed to the local for a quick pint...

Or maybe two?

And then it's off to await the arrival of the beautiful bride in University Church. Don't the guys look great in their tails and we are big fans of their wedding umbrellas which are a must at any Irish wedding. Also anyone else intrigued as to what is in that brown package? I am!

Hello there gorgeous... no, I don't mean the groom, I mean this beautiful vintage BMW which ferried Susan and her Dad to the church, keeping them nice and dry despite the drizzle.

The ceremony was just as stunning as everything else we have seen so far. With sprays of baby breath and soft candle light creating the atmosphere and the sounds of Ave Maria being played on a harp filling the church, the scene was set and the ceremony took place without a hitch.

The bride's cathedral length veil looked fantastic in the traditional setting of the University Church and complimented her gown spectacularly well.

Sealed with a kiss. We love how you can see the smiles on the guests face even though they are not the focus of the picture. You can certainly feel the love that filled the church that day.

After a wedding at University Church it is customary to pop into St. Stephen's Green for a picture or two, and these lovely images show that no matter what the weather you can still achieve gorgeous wedding portraits and as everybody knows it's lucky if it rains on your wedding day...

After taking these beautifl pictures they drove to Susan's parents' home where their guests awaited them in the garden.

The canapés look absolutely delicious and we love how they are served on simple slate tiles.

You know you are at a stylish wedding when the guest are as glamorous as this. Everybody is dolled up to the nines and are looking fantastic if you ask me!

I have bar envy. Officially. Susan and David chose an ultra glam, old school ballroom style for their reception which looks amazing! From the chandelier to the glassware and the chalk board table names, Susan pulled the look for her reception together to the highest of wedding standards and we can't believe this all took place at her family home.

Once well fed, the couple and their guests partied the night away with the help of the Controversial All Stars and the dance floor was packed all night long with young and old boogeying to the beat.

So there you have it. We told you it was a stunning wedding. Thanks so much to the happy couple and to the very talented Doreen Kilfeather for sharing her amazing photographs of the day. Many congratulations again to the new Mr and Mrs!
