A Real Wedding is always exciting for us to feature on OneFabDay but today’s is a little bit extra-special because it it the wedding of a lovely couple that have featured on the site before. You may remember Laura and Ferg's engagement session with little Dougie the dog by Sean Curtin Photography from last year. Fast forward a few months and we're delighted to be able to show you how their beautiful wedding turned out.

This little lad is the Child of Prague for those of you unfamiliar with Irish Catholic traditions, he is put on display the night before the wedding in the hope that he will bring good weather for the big day.

We got engaged Christmas Day 2010 so had only 9 months to organise the wedding but I quite enjoyed it as I was very organised and already knew the minute I set foot in Kilshane House that I wanted to get married there. We didn’t look at anywhere else! We were friendly with quite a few of our wedding suppliers anyway so it was lovely to deal with people we already knew.

Us OFD girls just love a Jenny Packham gown as did Laura who immediately fell in love with the Alessia. "It was a 1920s style backless sheath gown  in hammered silk with embellishments on the shoulders and under the bust. I adore Jenny Packham dresses and knew the minute I tried it on that it was the ‘one’. I’m hoping I’ll get to wear it again as an evening dress! "

Ferg is every inch the typical Irish groom - looking relaxed and calm, pint in hand, inside he's a bundle of nerves! And he had a little while to wait apparently because though Laura "was adamant about being on time but ended up being over half an hour late due to three sets of road works and Friday traffic in Tipperary town en route from Limerick! I was slightly panicking until I realised half the guests were late too. I think the pub across the road did very well from our guests pre-ceremony."

"For someone like me (Laura) who worked in television for eight years, I was extremely nervous walking down the aisle! But it was wonderful to have all our family and friends in the one place. Fr Eugene Boyce married us, a family friend and he was fantastic, so many of our guests said they loved his relaxed style."

Dispelling the myth that you need perfect blue skies for gorgeous wedding pictures, Sean Curtin did what he does best (ably assisted by the lovely Kate Curtin, creative genius) and brought the personalities of Laura and Ferg to the fore in their portraits, so it's no surprise they are full of praise for the photographic couple.... "Our photographer was Sean Curtin from Sean Curtin Photography, a good buddy and along with his wife Kate is amazingly creative. We were delighted with our pictures which were done in a very relaxed storybook style. Sean even had me wearing wellies in a cornfield at one point during the day! Quite reminiscent of Electric Picnic where I met Fergal in 2006."

"Our reception took place in Kilshane House, a gorgeous country house in Bansha, Co Tipperary. We fell in love with Kilshane the minute we arrived there and booked it straight away. What’s wonderful about Kilshane is that it’s exclusively yours for the weekend, the only people you meet are the staff and your guests! It’s an incredible venue, with a huge conservatory where we held our drinks reception and the Orangerie (the function room) was decorated beautifully with elegant drapes and lit with twinkling fairy lights. Everyone raved about the food and the Kilshane experience."

"We are both huge Cure fans so our first dance was to “Friday, I’m in Love.”  Handy that it was a Friday wedding too."

"We held a BBQ the next day in the conservatory so everyone relaxed and made a weekend of it and enjoyed exploring the grounds. The owners live in the House and are huge animal lovers so even Dougie, our much loved Scottish Terrier came along! What made the weekend was everyone crowding around the TV early the day after the wedding to watch Ireland beat Australia in the Rugby World Cup and it was great to have my bridesmaid Aisling home from South Africa and my cousins from New Zealand for the wedding."

Any advice for new brides or anything you found especially helpful? "Be organised, delegate and don’t sweat the small stuff. If you’re doing mass booklets print them early as putting them together was particularly head-wrecking."

So Laura and Ferg — Congratulations! It was wonderful to be part of both your engagement and wedding day. We hope you’re enjoying a wonderful life together.

And to Sean Curtin, a huge thank you for sharing this beautiful wedding with us. Hop over to Sean Curtin Photographyto see more of his amazing work.
