If you've been reading One Fab Day for a while, you'll know that we're torn on the subject of celebrity weddings. On the one hand, we very publicly gushed our hearts out during Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's wedding, and often find stealable ideas in some of the more relatable Tinseltown weddings. On the other, lots of celeb bashes leave us cold. All things considered, 2018 was a hugely inspiring year for celebrity weddings - we oohed and aahed over pampas grass-filled ceremonies, epic floral arches, and knockout bridesmaid dresses. We'll take any excuse to relive those gorgeous moments, so today, we're sharing our favourite star-studded wedding details, including our picks for the Best Celebrity Wedding Dresses 2018. Enjoy!
Our Pick of the Best Celebrity Wedding Dresses 2018
1. You know we can't resist a pink wedding dress! Mandy Moore confidently threw out the rule book with her ruffled Rodarte gown and we were instantly huge fans. Though heavily '70s-inspired, we think this dress is timeless! Click here for a closer look.
2. Costing an estimated €15,000, Chanel Iman's Zuhaid Murad wedding dress was certainly high end, but for a world-famous supermodel to choose a gown from a current bridal collection, rather than a custom-made design, was actually pretty unusual! The silk tulle bolero, which falls like a cape, was the clincher for us - it makes the dress modern, yet unmistakably bridal.
3. Rose Leslie's wedding dress, which she wore to tie the knot with fellow Game of Thrones star Kit Harrington, had such a sweet, fairytale vibe, particularly when combined with a cathedral-length veil and flower crown.
5. As much as we love an opulent wedding gown, we're always excited to see a chic city wedding dress, so naturally, we were big fans of Bee Shaffer's midi-length Dolce & Gabbana number, which she wore for her second wedding to Francesco Carrozzini in Portofino, Italy.
Our Favourite Celebrity Wedding Dresses: Second Wedding Dresses
1. There were countless gasps in One Fab Day HQ on the day of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's royal wedding, but none louder than when Meghan's gloriously elegant second wedding dress was revealed! Her chic, halterneck Stella McCartney gown was so effortlessly cool that we instantly rounded up a bunch of lookalikes for this post!
2. Both of Chiara Ferragni's Dior wedding dresses were drop-dead gorgeous, but her second gown was a firm favourite, thanks to its sentimental details - the blogger's blush pink dress was embroidered with text and pictures recounting key moments in her relationship with hubby Federico Lucia!
3. In October, we geared up for yet another extravagant royal wedding - this time, it was Princess Eugenie's turn to marry her man! Her wedding to Jack Brooksbank was full of gorgeous details, all of which we've detailed in this post, but we still haven't recovered from this unique and undeniably regal Zac Posen gown, with its cool champagne shade.
Our Favourite Celebrity Weddings: Ceremonies
1. Nothing gets us excited for wedding season like a garden party-style bash, which is exactly what Mandy Moore and husband Taylor Goldsmith chose for their big day, albeit with a slight twist. Their painfully hip and bohemian ceremony took place in Mandy's Los Angeles back yard, and was full of eclectic styling touches, including pampas grass arrangements and vintage rugs. Click here for a closer look!
2. For a world-famous movie star, Hilary Swank kept it real with her wedding to entrepreneur Philip Schneider. Their relaxed and rustic big day had nothing in common with stereotypical Hollywood parties - in fact, it was closer to something you'd see in our real weddings section! Their Redwood Forest ceremony in Carmel, California, was a real back-to-nature moment, and the resulting photographs by Art Streiber are just stunning.
3. If you were following along with us on Instagram, Facebook or our frenzied live blog, you'll know that excitement reached peak levels during the ceremony portion of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's big day. From the gospel choir to the ceremony readings to Bishop Curry's rousing sermon, it was an expertly-planned and unexpectedly personal affair, and we were hooked on every word.
1. We very quickly fell for the vibrant, autumnal palette in Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank's big day, particularly the enormous floral arch outside St. George's Chapel. Designed by London florist Rob Van Helden, it featured a magical combination of roses, spray roses, hydrangeas, dahlias, berries and physalis (also known as Chinese lanterns).
3. Millie Mackintosh and Hugo Taylor clearly couldn't choose between a floral arch and a balloon arch for their big day, so they merged two trends into one! The elaborate creation is the work of London Florist, Early Hours.
Our Favourite Celebrity Weddings: Bridesmaids
Trust supermodel Chanel Iman to have a sickeningly attractive bridal party, but our love for this look goes beyond genetically-gifted bridesmaids and groomsmen. Borrowing from one of 2018's top trends, Chanel chose elegant white gowns from Watters for her girls, while Sterling Shepard's right-hand men were clad in complimentary black tuxedos. The effect is so fresh and modern!
Our Favourite Celebrity Weddings: Hair and Makeup
Soft, flattering and glowy, Chiara Ferragni's make-up look was every bride's dream! And her Meghan Markle-esque undone updo was a hit among the One Fab Day team, too!
Our Favourite Celebrity Weddings: Accessories
Priyanka Chopra's 75-foot wedding veil was unashamedly extra and we were very much here for it! You'll find all the style from her big day in this post.
Our Favourite Celebrity Weddings: Social Media Post
These days, Instagram is the primary source of information on celebrity weddings, so we wanted to give a shout-out to some of the stars who've mastered the art of the social media share! The post that gave us the biggest injection of feels this year was Ellen Page's marriage announcement, shortly after her wedding to dancer Emma Portner (who, fittingly, she met via Instagram!) This simple shot of their wedding band-clad hands is a great reminder of what it's all about!
Our Favourite Celebrity Weddings: Wedding Trend
Once again proving her chill credentials, Hilary Swank ended her big day with a raucous silent disco, which we expect to see at tonnes of real weddings in 2019. Silent discos are perfect for post-band celebrating, particularly if there are noise restrictions at your venue, so we think Hil's onto something!
