Cool, colourful and filled with all the lights, today's real wedding is a just blast of fun! Emma and Neil are proof that you can find 'The One' on a dating app, because these two were on exactly the same page from the start about what they wanted from their day at Owen House Wedding Barn in Cheshire. A personalised ceremony, a fun vibe, lots of food, and plenty of booze were high on their wishlist - all of which they nailed - along with memories of their day, captured by Paul Joseph Photography. Add in a Disney cake, some gorgeous style, and a cardboard cameo from Walter the dog, and you have the makings of one cracking wedding!
For Emma and Neil, their wedding day was all about striking the right vibe, “It was completely ‘us’ and that was important to us; very laid back, fun, non-traditional and super personal to the two of us.” Sounds like our kind of bash! P.S. LOVING this leather jacket of Emma's!
We love a good Tinder love story, and that’s just how these two first met! “As such I wasn’t expecting much from the first date,” recalls Emma, “and made other plans for later on so it only lasted about two hours… but he made a good impression!”
Emma tells us Neil popped the question on a windy Formby Beach while they were walking their dog, “I thought Neil had knelt down to pop the lead back on Walter and when I turned around he was holding a ring box! It’s one of our favourite places, and it was during a long walk here in the rain where we got very lost on an early date that, apparently, Neil realised I was the one!”
How sweet is this father daughter moment - I can't handle the emotions!
These two made sure the ceremony was authentically them, “We wrote our own vows, which we ummed and ahhed about at first, but they made the whole ceremony for us; we did read them to one another the week before so there would be no surprises but it made our wedding ceremony feel so personal and intimate and it felt wonderful to be able to say our own words to one another in front of all of our friends and family."
"We also picked out our favourite music for the string quartet for the ceremony, which was amazing," says Emma, "Walking down the aisle to Beauty and the Beast, and back out as man and wife to Game of Thrones!”
What a cool ceremony space - as you'll see, this pair have a bit of a thing for fairy lights!
Fun on the hay bales! And how stylish are this pair - Emma's gorgeous lace gown is perfect for an English country wedding, and Neil's grey suit and paisley is perfect for the occasion too!
Emma and Neil are after our own hearts with the areas they chose to prioritise for their wedding, “Definitely photos, booze and food! You want people to remember the day as being great fun and keeping them well fed and juiced up would help! And the photos are your real lasting memory of the day so we wanted them to be perfect, and again, not too posed or traditional – a proper memory of our day.”
Emma's bridesmaids rocked a touch of sparkle - how beautiful are these ladies!
The couple visited just one wedding venue - and that’s the one they chose! “We both fell in love. It was so warm and welcoming and such an open space we knew we could decorate it however we wanted. They also had an amazing Beauty Shed that I could get ready in, and the ceremony was lovely and intimate.”
Now didn't I tell you these guys had a thing for lights!
Emma and Neil have some newlywed wisdom to impart on other couples, “Everyone will tell you to remember that the day is about you and to stick to your guns, and it’s true – it doesn’t matter what Aunty Mary thinks about grey bridesmaid dresses or whether Mum think those two should sit next each other or not – it’s YOUR day and you should enjoy the planning as much as the wedding itself! And trust me, on the day everyone will have the best time ever; the only person who will notice a fairy light has blown or that some string off one of your wedding favours has come loose is you! Try not to sweat the small stuff.”
Wine bottle table plan, spirit minis for favours, it's almost as if Emma and Neil were encouraging their guests to hit the bar!
And in case you were wondering about the giant dog at the top table… “Our dog Walter! He couldn’t be at the wedding as he is much too big and get’s a bit overexcited, so we had a cardboard cut out made of him and pulled it out at the speeches. He was on the dancefloor all night!”
Cheers!
Continuing the Disney love from their ceremony music, let’s take a moment for Emma & Neil’s unique wedding cake! “We wanted a Disney theme with this and it far exceeded our expectations – there were cries of ‘NO!’ when we went to cut it!” Three who tiers of their favourite movies - how cool is this cake!
Now *those* are some dance moves!
We’re proper jealous of Emma and Neil’s honeymoon in California! “We road-tripped in a Mustang from San Fran down to LA with a small detour over to Joshua Tree. It was amazing!”
What an incredible wedding - you just know this one went on into the wee hours! Thanks so much to Emma, Neil, and of course Paul Joseph Photography for sharing this amazing celebration!
